What the????

My wife and I have been going to vegas for years.
Belong to a lot of slot clubs etc.
So my son and I go to vegas a year ago and I get him to join some of the
slot clubs in casinos we go to.
He only plays a little. It's my wife and I that gamble.

My wife and I have never received a mail out or even an email offer from any of the casinos!!!!!

My son is getting offers on email and by mail all the time........ WTF?

As the french would say in the holy grail.......to the casinos and hotels, "I fart in your general direction!"
Someone who comes into a casino just once and plays just "a little" is a prime target for mail from that casino. They want to get him to come back and play MORE than "a little." Casinos try to "hook" the new players and get them to come in again, so they (the casinos) can see how much they may be worth to them in the future. Since you and your wife have been to these places several times, they already know how much you play and how much you're worth to them. Your son is an unknown quantity after just one visit.

Ahhhh, ................ So that explains why the pumped-in fragrances at casinos.

Rick
The casinos conduct business with newcomers the same way drug dealers treat perspective "customers". They give you a free ride til you are hooked. Casino marketing at its best. Johnscott58- if you want some future offers just visit and give a little play at casinos where you don't have a slot card. The offers will come.

John,

You say you been going to Vegas for years but did not say if you play or the strip or downtown. If you have not been downtown in a while I would try them. Boyd properties in particular the Fremont, Main Street Station and the California have a easy comp system even for lowrollers.
Each casino's marketing is dependent on its own rules and marketing policies. Perhaps the casinos you play with monitor marketing activity to you based on your actual losses etc rather than on your amount and frequency of play? Whilst the latter is more common, if the casinos consider you to be an advantage player, or someone who loses less than the average, they may market less to you. I play at casino vip level, and hold that status with many casinos - eg. access to high roller rooms and casino hosts - but there are some casinos that simply don't offer me anything special, even though my play amounts and average bets are similar at all of the casinos I frequent.

One great thing about Vegas: competition. If you don't get good offers from the casinos you play with, try some others. Or, if you really want to get to the bottom of things, ring and request an appointment with a casino host at each casino you play at. They can give you a better indication of why you've not been marketed to - and also hold the power to sweeten deals / offer comps over and above standard promotions.

Great book called "Comp City" by Max Rubin, sold via LVA I think also, is worth a read. A few years old now, but the tips and techniques haven't really changed that much...
Thanks for all your input people. What you have said makes sense to me.
Not sure if you get the commercial in the states but there is one with an adult and a kid in a room......new kid shows up..........gets some ice cream....other one wants some...........adult tells him no..........the kid that just entered gets some because he's new.....other kid says i'm new too............adult replys...........but he's newer.
Thanks again. I'll still pout a bit more.
