what's the biggest jackpot you've seen someone win?

I was at one of the local Tucson casinos last Friday. Just as I was cashing out I saw some activity at a $1 WOF machine. As I passed by, I noticed that someone had won $1,131,551.00!!! No bells, whistles or a lot of noise - just one real happy guy!

I was in awe all week-end.

Anyone else have some stories to share?
Maybe if you said $5000 I'd want to play this game. Jeez. over a million dollars? That is a lot of money.
At the MGM Grand, I was returning to my room about 1 am to drop off some money I'd won next door in a poker game. The Mega Million (or whatever it was called) had been hit, and the winner was still there waiting. He had the fake monster check, but would not be paid until gaming enforcement officer and the slot manufacturers representative - inspector arrived and "verified" the win.

The jackpot was over 10 million. dollars. For his $3.00 wager. There was one of the linked progressive machines in the Grand at the time.

"Simple" 3 line, 3 wheel machine game.

Edited to add:

Forgot to mention, this was the MGM Grand in Biloxi, Ms.

$3,758 VP Progressive. Me at South Point !

Saw some guy win a little over 1 Million dollars at Harrah's about 5 yrs ago.
Waiting for a payout: $125,000 on a .25 WOF at Winstar in Thackerville, OK. Last year
I saw the machine hit (he was sitting next to me): $15,000 on a $5 Crazy Bill's Goldmine (or something like it) at Choctaw in Durant, OK, last month
Person I knew: $9000 by my mom, $100 Double Diamond Deluxe at Paris, 2001. Yep - she was playing a $100 machine and only put in $300.
Me: $5600 $5 Triple Double Diamond at Paris, 2002, followed by a $2400 moments later. Fun day!
I saw someone hit $4500 on a Wolf Run slot at McCarren Airport of all places. Made me want to rethink all those warnings I've heard about gambling there =)
Was sitting next to a man who hit a $46,000 progressive jackpot in South Dakota. He kept trying to pull the handle and play until I told him "shit, you just hit the jackpot" He was pretty happy, needless to say
This is a story of a jackpot that SHOULD have been won.....TWICE!!!

I was at the old Marina Hotel on one of those up and backs out of LAX. You had to gamble $5 min and $10 average bets for 4 hours playing BJ. I hardly played any VP at the time so I just concentrated on BJ.

About an hour into my session, there was a bunch of noise coming from the slot section in the casino behind the black jack tables. Well, the screaming got louder and louder, and I just had to get up and see what was going on! When I got there, there was a man that was doing all the screaming being held back by two security guards with a woman cowering in fear about 10 feet from him. I took it that they were husband and wife. Well this guy was soooo worked up, you could barely distinguish what he was saying, but I could definitely here the word "JACKPOT!" I finally glanced up at the machine they were arguing about and saw that the jackpot symbols all seemed to be lined up properly......but.....there was only one coin inserted instead of the 3 coins needed for the top jackpot. Well, at least they won something like $2500, but the top jackpot was over $100,000. Things finally settled down and I went back to playing BJ, and as I walked back to my table..I could hear the guy repeating over and over that she MUST play 3 coins in.

It couldn't have been more than 20 minutes later that the same commotion was coming from the same sot machine.....only this time it was really intense!! I had to run over and see what happened this time. By the time I got there, 4 security guards had a hold of this guy and this time he looked like he was ready to kill someone! The woman was balling her eyes out and was hysterical. In those days, you played with rolls of quarters and dollars. Apparently, the woman was playing 3 coins like her old man had told her, but after playing 18 coins, she didn't bother to open another roll...remember, they had just won $2500....and inserted the last two coins from the roll and VOILA.....she hit the damn jackpot AGAIN! I thought the husband was going to have a massive heart attack right then and there...even though they won about $5000 more. But I guess they really needed some decent money to get them out of a deep hole, and $100,000 would have put them on easy street for a long time! I'll never forget that day!

Nope. The time it would have taken to put in the third coin would have passed by the jackpot.
