Steel cut oats, like corn grits, cannot cook properly in five minutes. As evidence, I offer the commentary on grits found in the film "My Cousin Vinny".

TWENTY MINUTES.

I cook Steel Cut oats in the rice cooker. Takes 50 minues. Perfect every time.

forgot the 3 in front of the 5....total cook time is 35 minutes and they are GOOOD!

That's more like it. They're done enough for me in 20-25, but others may want to cook them longer.

The next day they show up at the dock, we'll be having sheephead or mangrove snapper for breakfast. My buddy likes 'em fried along with eggs, toast, and a bloody Mary.

Looked at Steel Cut oats but can't wait 20+ for cooking.

Give me some Yogart and a Ensure.... on my way out the door.
