What's happened to LVA ?

I am a paid member and haven't been to Vegas since 2003.

Some of my favorite casinos are now gone, or changed to a crappy owner. Can anyone say RIO?

Very few show headliners anymore.

Lousy VP and blackjack rules. The blackjack rules at my hometown casinos/race tracks are better. No 6/5.

Irritating resort fees. I don't know if anyone had them in 2003.

A hassle at the airport.

At least one thing hasn't changed, the smokey casinos. The racino in my hometown is smoke free, important because I have allergies.

I've kept my membership because I've been optimistic that someone, even one casino will give me reason to come back.

I'm naive.
In response to the OP. Hmmm.

I think one of the problems can be illustrated by the recent thread about the suicide at Cosmopolitan. Those of us who are true fans of the City were really saddened by this because it's a NEW hotel/casino and that's exciting and interesting, and then you get a suicide. Well, some clown, some idiot, decides to turn the thread into a running gag about what the remains of the person might have looked liked, or smelled like, or whatever.

I think some of it is attributable to the direction the City has taken (some would call it a decline), hotels being shuttered, new projects put on hold, etc. So that there isn't too much "news."

I think most of us check in here to learn something useful, and there is still plenty of that, but maybe just not so many trip reports. And maybe there's more stuff to sift through (more off-topic remarks, etc.).
You don't honestly think that suicide would keep regular posters away , do you?

I'm a nonsmoker, and to my nose, the typical Las Vegas casino in 2011 is a lot less smoky than it was in 2003. I think the circulation systems are much better these days.

Well it's not much, but there's one. Vegas is great, you should come visit.

I don't post much, but have lurked for 7 or 8 years. The reason I originally came to this board was for LV information, but once I found the FFA, I was so entertained by all the goofiness/ silliness/ cliques. Kind of reminded me of Jr. high. Once the factions (the Coven, Leg Humpers, conservatives, etc) started breaking up and the bannings continued, the place became more and more less entertaining and more boring. Thankfully, some folks still post fun topics and trip reports (thanks Rizzo and Bags). I still stop in but am not nearly as entertained as I used to be with Riblet, Fungirl, Buick, Beem, LIR, Nesalk et. al.
Wow, that's an interesting group of characters portlandted. Like I said the good "ole" days. I wonder what happens to the prolific posters that go away. Do they go to Forum Heaven or do they just find another outlet for their thoughts?
