What's Your Favorite Christmas Movie?

I've been watching some Lifetime and Hallmark movies this past weekend. I'm finding some of them good and some pretty bad.

My favorite holiday movie would be "It's A Wonderful Life", in black and white not the colorized version.

A close second would be "Elf" with Will Ferrell. I think it's one of only a few of his movies I actually enjoy.

Funny thing is I haven't watched either this year.

As a kid "Rudolph" and "Frosty" were watched yearly.

What's your favorite?

"A Christmas Story" has been my favorite ever since it came out. We always watch that, as well as the 1966 cartoon version of Dr. Seuss' Grinch. The movie has several personal connections. I don't remember Red Ryder but my older cousin Roger actually craved a Red Ryder carbine and never got one. The kid in the film also looks a lot like my younger brother did as a child. My brother, like him, had glasses and was always breaking them. And of course the house and the department store used in the film are only about an hour's drive away from us.

"It's a Wonderful Life" is not strictly speaking a Christmas film. It was not intended to be a Christmas movie, and was actually released in January, but since the action occurs on Christmas Eve and there are elements in it resembling "A Christmas Carol", the film became associated with the holiday, much as wassail songs have done. It's an excellent film with a timely message but we don't watch it every year.
The old black & white version of A Christmas Carol.

now my favorite animated or claymation or whatever holiday classic is A Year Without a Santa Claus. That heat miser and cold miser crack me up
"Since this is Aunt Bethany's 80th Christmas, I think she should lead us in the saying of Grace."

"What, dear?"

"Grace!"

"Grace? She passed away thirty years ago."

"They want you to say Grace." ........................ "The BLESSSSSSSSSSSSING!"

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America,
and to the republic for which it stands/One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

"Amen."

"White Christmas" Corny, sappy and totally contrived. I love it. The perfect feel good Christmas movie. The first scene when they are doing the Christmas show in the middle of the war is gut wrenching. When Bing is singing White Christmas you can really see it in the soldiers eyes how they are longing to be home.

Then at the end when they do the reunion for the old general it is perfect.
Bad Santa -- with Billy Bob Thorton, John Ritter
He's a seriously bad santa- it's outragiously funny and there is redemption towards the end.
I just got it on DVD for a gift.

Elf is a close second. Elf is a wonderful movie.
Another vote for "It's A Wonderful Life" followed by "A Christmas Story".
Christams Story , Christmas Vacation, and Surviving Christmas.
May two favorites are Miracle on 34th Street (the original with Natalie Wood) and A Christmas Story. Love TBS' marathon on Christmas Day - I never miss it!
