When do the Police cross over the line?????

Well Karen for the dirty word comments that was a little tacky. These actions are still way out of line for a professional. Nothing to do with a group of runaway police and constant kicking his body that will remain with this individual for quite a while. As I said from the offset this is my opinion only but someone better put a cap of the LV and Henerdson Police departments.

Diabetics know that under eating, over exercising, and not taking medication properly can and will cause diabetic coma episodes. Their forgetting or choosing not to monitor their own life is no excuse for the results of their choices. Their medical condition mandates that they be responsible for their own health.

I wasn't making excuses...just pointing out that it's not typically a lack of medication that causes the problem like you originally asserted. One would have to know more about the specific circumstances to blame the victim. Like for example...was this the first time this happened or part of a series of incidents? What really led up to the shock? Was he monitoring his glucose or not? Likely you're right and the person was careless or neglectful. Could be it's akin to blaming an epileptic for his first seisure.
Wish the Vegas cops would go Postal on the porn slappers and time share hawks.

Seriously on the dirty words?
If you think that was police brutality deserving of the settlement they received, then I hope for everyone's sake you do not have a law suit against the state.

We do not know how out of control this car was being driven before he stopped.
No doubt the police were attempting to pull him over by use of their lights, sirens and being on the guys bumper.
They have to use caution and sometimes brute force.

Bottomline is the guy was on the ground w 5 cops beating on him. This is America the cops are supposed to "Protect and serve" not beat us like a P.O.W.

Is that guy a murderer? Rapist? Child molestor? No he was not listening to them...... Sounds like he deserved the beating to me.
The dirty words really has nothing to do with any type of law suit. The law suit will stem from Police use of force to handle the problem. You can bet the attorneys are standing in line to take this guy case. There is no explanation in the fact 5 Police could not control the guy other than kicking on him. That is just plain Police Gone Wild. These five officers cross the line and should have to come up with the very good answers that will make sense over the video.

In either case, does it take five cops to control him? If you're a cop and received special training and you can't subdue a person in insulin shock or 'extremely' drunk by yourself, the you don't belong on the force.

One cop probably would be sufficient - but the object isn't to try out for the next spot on American Gladiators.

Its not a fair fight and its not suppossed to be. You can bet there is a dead cop somewhere whose family wishes he had over-the-top backup support like in this video.

I agree with PJ. In any situation involving the arrest of an individual, the police officers cannot afford to relax until the arrestee has been neutralized. Does this mean that sometimes law enforcement will overreact? Of course, but it is what it is.

And this from an ultra-liberal! LOL

its too bad that we couldnt make one of these threads for rational people and the other for irrational.
