WHER to stay on Freemont Sreet?

Hands down the Golden Nugget checkout their weekday prices they are pretty decent. Cocktail service, choice of nice restaurants, pool, clean, orderly, and mostly all friendly employees. Starting in July weekdays are mostly $42.00 per night and a book fo golden values. To comapre the Golden Nugget to Fitz, old Plaza, MS, or Vegas Club not even close.

I've stayed at the Plaza and Golden Nugget. They both sucked but they less than $60 a night so you can't expect much.

What did you think sucked about GN?

Well, I checked in about 11pm about 4 years ago. Had reserved a non-smoking South tower room. Clerk told me no non-smoking rooms were left in south tower so I asked for a non-smoking room in North Tower. He said no. I asked for a smoking room in north tower. He said no. So, off to our smoking South Tower room. The room absolutely reeked of smoke, the wallpaper was peeling off, the carpet was all stained, the bathroom was moldy. But, I did have a strip view.

Two days later we checked out and moved over to Bill's. Asked for non-smoking strip/Bally's view. Clerk at Bill's said no non-smoking rooms left but knocked $10 per night off the rate then said, go check out the room and if you don't like it we'll come up and spray and if you still don't like it, we'll move you first chance we get. The room was very nice at Bill's. Noisy but that's what you get when you're right on top of strip.

The whole attitude was different at Bill's. Bill's made me feel welcome.
Last I heard, the Plaza won't be having guests until Sept. (that reno work they are doing)

Snidely I had the same problem about two years ago except for the wallpaper coming off the wall. The checkin clerk was also very rude. I was told however that I could check in the morning and see if they were any non smoking rooms which I did not have a problem with. I went up in the room and it smelt like a ashtray. I figured maybe if I opened the windows for a while it would get better. We then went and played until till 4 am and then after about only two hours of trying to sleep in that ashtray the air conditioning went out. I called downstairs and asked for a manager and low and behold they found a non smoking room for me. Funny how that works.

When I got back I got a email asking me about my experience there and after I did the survey someone from guest relations sent me a letter offering me three free nights good for one year but I did not take them up on it.
Here is a Golden Nugget Offer for $42 Nights in July and August.

Summer Sizzle Offer
Surprised that the main Street Station hasn't been mentioned. I've always thought that was a nice place to stay and play. Buffet used to be very good.

MSS was mentioned by KP on page 1. Pretty soon every downtown hotel will be listed if that hasn't happened already.
It's almost a "you get what you pay for" situation. It's possible to get Vegas Club for $11 on weekdays, but it's a dump. But maybe for the price, that's OK. I enjoy the Golden Nugget, not so much for the rooms as the pools, specially the 3rd floor infinity pool which is open til 2AM. RIght now midweek rooms are $42, with some free food, drinks, etc included.

Also check out MSS and the Cal. Both of them have refrigerators included as a standard feature. In the summer heat that can be quite a nice touch. They often have a "third night free" offer.

Whatever you do, have a great time!!
