I'm more of a Hank the Angry Dwarf fan.
How the hell did my thread about staying downtown end up as a bash little people thread?

Okay liking the GN so far. Love playing at the 4 Qs. Anyone know what is in the 250$ coupon book? With the LVA I guess?
Im curious to see if the Plaza reopening, and makeover, has any impact on the other places in downtown especially the GN.

It's the LVA FFA. Anything is possible.

I was sorry to see Firefly won't be moving back to the Plaza. Plaza needs a couple of high quality eateries if they want to compete with GN. Their classic restaurant space overlooking Fremont begs for a special restaurant.

GN is charging $42 mid week now. When 1,000 newly remodeled rooms come on stream, I bet there's a price war. I think Fitzgeralds is weakest. Maybe they won't survive as a Hotel/Casino....maybe they'll make it just a casino...like Binions.

I was there Memorial Day and got a fun book from the front desk. As I recall it had A $10 MP, A BOGO for Magnolias, a BOGO for draft beers at the brewery and free admission for 4 to the comedy club. Might have been a double your points coupon, or I got that somewhere else. Also had a BOGO or two for Binions.
Guests of the 4Q get to use the pool at Binions.
I have stayed at both the Carson tower and rush tower in the golden nugget in the last year and found both to be very good. Infact the rush tower was the best I have ever had in vegas!I had no smokey smelling room issues, definetly no peeling wall paper or mold in the bathrooms in my room in the Carson tower.

I stayed at the 4 queens in may and found it to be clean and worth the $30 a night I spent.Square room and a TV, just like they advertised! Damned craps table never went under $10 table minimum though!

I stayed at the Golden Gate in a room that looked right onto the Fremont street experiance for stupid money, like $19.00 a night between Christmas and New years and I wouldnt sleep in room 311 again if they paid me $19 a night! It was clean for a room that hadnt been redone since the 1970's. It was small, the beds sucked......but the noise from that street was unbearable!

good luck weggie
The book contains 2 free buffet (breakfast or lunch), 2 free coctails discounts at sundries shop, $4.00 off at Grotto, a small discount on an entree at Carson Street, and a few others nothing huge but still a few things I'm sure that can be used. EDIT----------Did forget to mention $10 matchplay coupon.
