Where to live?

If one were contemplating somewhere else to live.where might it be?
Personally i'm getting a little tired of the good ol USA sometimes and thoughts of living in a different part of the world sounds a little appealing. Corrupt politicians, trillion$deficits, wars, nuclear meltdowns, political correctness that is out of control. Turning on the news anymore is usually just more of shaking your head and going WTF? The days of june and ward cleaver are long gone, today its maury povich and testing 13 guys for the father of my baby(s).
I just know this libya shit is gonna turn into something bigger than what they say. The entire middle east conflicts are just unfixable. There is no end to it unless everyone just agrees to live and let live. Ain't gonna happen. Seems easy enough to me but what do i know?
I'll tell you one thing thats seems easy enough to fix,Piracy. Yep,somali pirates. Maritime law has a lot of gray areas once you're in international waters. Protecting ones own vessel is pretty basic stuff. How to do it? Hire a dozen or so mercenaries. Those guys live for that kind of shit. A copy of the latest soldier of fortune rag classifieds should do the trick. Hell, pay me 20 grand or so and put a machine gun in my hand with free reign and i'm in! I have afew buddys who will help also. (i'm the conservative guy on the left).

Oh but i digress. Where to live, where to live. I saw an anthony bourdain episode the other day when he was in chile. Looked like a prettycool place to live. I dont think theres any worrys of missles flying or food riots. Mountains on the east, ocean on the west. Abundance of seafresh seafood(chile is a major supplier of seafood). Agriculture and lots of fresh meat.I could live on surf and turf the rest of my life easily. I would need to find out how good medical care for me would pan out but im kinda daydreaming,so doesn't matter anyway.

PEACE,JOHN

PS thanks teechur,i added my first pic and yes it was easy enough.I promise not to abuse the knowledge.
My choices are Germany or Japan. Germany because of just the homey atmosphere, where people clean their driveways, say hello to strangers, and have some kick a$$ food.

Japan, same as above with the advantage of earthquakes, volcanoes, tidal waves, and Godzilla.
Ok, the anime is killer and I enjoy it. (don't tell anyone I love Japanese cartoons)

After all these years, clcjim finally realizes why he has been such a failure at, well, everything. It's because he hates to have to clean his driveway.

Ahhhhh, . . . . . firearms and alcohol, . . . only the memories from those days remain for poor old DonDiego.

Has jatki99 considered Appalachia?

DonDiego says it comes down to Appalachia or Belize.

Well son, srub that damn thing and get back in the game!!

When I first moved off base, the neighbors were hosing down their driveway and scrubbing it with a scrub brush on a pole. Darnedest thing I've ever seen.
You forgot to mention that chile also makes some excellent wine!!!
I wouldn't move to europe (germany, etc.) In less than 20 years,
all of europe will be a muslim state!

Jeez, and to think how boring my Second Grade school picture was.

We have much to learn from Applachia.

I think this is considered part of appalachia. Its a small isolated cabin on a ridge overlloking shenandoah valley and a little town called luray(ya know, luray caverns). it was a freind of mines cabin and he let me use it whenevr i wanted. I took care of it so i almost considered it part mine. He had 3 places and never used this at all. It was my backup plan should the shit hit thefan. I kept it stocked with a ton of ammo. Unfortunately he sold it not to long ago and there goes my getaway place.
I use it for "boys weekends" on a pretty regular basis. Skeet shooting, beer and lots of red meat were staples for the weekend. Lots of fun. Ineed to find a new getaway now. Bummer!

John, "Where to live?", .................No need to move, just stop watching the news.

The news is almost always depressing and also frustrating, mainly because we can usually do nothing about it.

My opinion, ......... if you watch the news, you will increase your stress.

Rick
I would probably chose south america myself, specifically southern part of Ecuador.Son in law is from there.Visited there one xmas and had a good time.Fresh fruit and seafood.Gas much cheaper. And the biggest plus,no flippin winters.Would need to learn to speak Spanish though.
