While Obama sleeps

1 March 2013, 16:00GMT:

Oh, and for those wondering exactly what was on President Putin's mind:
__1. Secure the Russian Military Bases and Ports on the Black Sea.
__2. Control the extraction and delivery of natural gas to Europe.

It appears to poor old DonDiego that President Putin has already succeeded.
If this only would have happened a few weeks back...we could have boycotted the Olympics....and the Circle Completed.

And hoops blames Obama for the actions of Putin.

BTW - Hoops' record on the "red line in Syria" was to call Obama reckless when he was considering military force...only then to call him weak when he ultimately did not. Is there a word for people who criticize out of both corners of their mouth? And is there any appropriate response to them other than to laugh?
The only reason sanctions and diplomacy are able to be used against Iran is because Putin is cooperating with the US on the front. If you want to have another 14 year military campaign in Iran then taking a hardline with Putin in Ukraine is the right path. If you don't want that then the best course is to tread lightly, thoughtfully, and strategically with Putin....and most importantly don't take any advice from the simpleton-Iraq-architects who think all the worlds problems can be solved with a US occupation.

*** BREAKING NEWS *** BREAKING NEWS *** BREAKING NEWS ***

3:31PM 1 FEB from the White House:
"The President's national security team met today to receive an update on the situation in Ukraine and discuss potential policy options. We will provide further updates later this afternoon."

3:34PM 1 FEB from Zeke Miller, Time magazine:
"[President] Obama did not attend the meeting, but WH official says he has been briefed by Susan Rice and his national security team."

Whew! DonDiego was worried, . . . but as long as Susan "Benghazi Video" Rice is on it everything will be fine.

***EDITED TO ADD***
DonDiego is also pleased that the Secretary of State is deeply involved:
__ Russia has told the United States that it will respect the sovereignty of Ukraine and that military exercises near the Russian-Ukraine border are not a prelude to an intervention, Secretary of State John Kerry said Thursday, 27 Feb.
__ Russia is ready to help Ukraine as it seeks to stave off economic collapse, US Secretary of State John Kerry said Friday after talking with his Russian counterpart Friday 28 Feb.
__ [Secretary] Kerry, in comments that highlighted Washington’s rising suspicion of Moscow, said the U.S. is watching to see if Russian activity in Crimea “might be crossing a line in any way”. also on Friday 28 Feb.

The more he reads the more DonDiego realizes who's in charge.
pjstroh-"Is there a word for people who criticize out of both corners of their mouth?"----------------------------- Yes there is, it is DEMOCRAT.

Every President handles military issues in his or her own way.

I don't see warriors; I see men who lose their nerve in a traffic jam.

You must have men who are moral, but at the same time can use their primordial instinct to kill, without feeling, without passion, without judgment. Without judgment, because it's judgment that defeats us.
