While Obama sleeps

When in doubt chilly and forky blame President Bush.

And hoops blames Obama for the actions of Putin.

BTW - Hoops' record on the "red line in Syria" was to call Obama reckless when he was considering military force...only then to call him weak when he ultimately did not. Is there a word for people who criticize out of both corners of their mouth? And is there any appropriate response to them other than to laugh?

Im always amused when the cheerleaders of the Iraq debacle preach about foreign policy.

Albe voted twice for a guy that spent a trillion tax dollars looking for Bin Laden in Baghdad. And now he has problems with the president that killed Bin laden. Thanks for putting a smile on my face

Dude, it's OLD Hillary. Pay more attention to FOX and you won't make such silly mistakes.

A former community organizer vs. a former cold warrior. This can't end well. Will somebody please take our idiot President's red crayon away before the whole damn world blows up.
*** UPDATE ***** UPDATE ***

Well, . . . President Putin has pretty well consolidated his gains in the Crimea. Reports of shots and explosions and subsequent takeover of formerly Ukraine military bases and buildings suggest a not-particularly-bloody capitulation.

The recently named Admiral in charge of the Ukraine Navy today switched sides declaring himself the Admiral of the Regional Crimean Navy affiliated with Russia.

Maybe all Putin wants for now is Crimea.
If he wants all of Ukraine, . . . DonDiego suggests the reader, if any, examine the map above. The port of Odessa would be the next strategic regional target; if Odessa falls Ukraine would be in serious trouble.
And if Ukraine falls, . . . Moldova and Belarus will be easy pickins.
Hopefully consideration of whatever remains of the missile defense hardware installed by the USA in Poland would halt any advance thereafter.

DonDiego sees no one stepping up to stop President Putin.
But, maybe, . . . just maybe, . . . . . . . NAH! Never mind.

For the record, DonDiego's tactical military knowledge is limited. However, his strategic expertise was gained playing The Game of Risk hundreds, if not thousands, of times, . . . and he knows Ukraine [Eastern Europe/Russia in early editions] is important.

For the record, DonDiego does not suggest The United States initiate a shooting war with Russia or any other Country, . . . except perhaps a small Caribbean nation for the purpose of acquiring recreational facilities for DonDiego's pleasure or even relocation. Five years of withdrawal and weakness have encouraged Putin; and even now nothing is discouraging him.

DonDiego just wants to be left alone.

Sorry for the mistake. I'm more of a Print News guy. National Enquirer keeps saying she has brain cancer.
...but since you mentioned it, how old is she now...75? 80?
Yeah, DonDiego doesn't want a shooting war with Putin...he just wants to ridicule the president for not having a shooting war with Putin. Nice to have all those bases covered. Its a luxury afforded to people without responsibilty

That's the GOP way. No matter what Obama does, he gets criticized while the GOP is unable to offer better ideas.

While Obama slept, the GOP was worrying about wedding cakes for gays.

Umm, . . . not precisely.

Somewhat surprisingly, today's Washington Post gives a more coherent summary of DonDiego's thoughts than does pjstroh in an Editorial entitled President Obama’s Foreign Policy is Based on Fantasy:

"The urge to pull back — to concentrate on what Mr. Obama calls 'nation-building at home' — is nothing new, . . . There were similar retrenchments after the Korea and Vietnam wars and when the Soviet Union crumbled. But the United States discovered each time that the world became a more dangerous place without its leadership and that disorder in the world could threaten U.S. prosperity. Each period of retrenchment was followed by more active (though not always wiser) policy.

The White House often responds by accusing critics of being warmongers who want American 'boots on the ground' all over the world and have yet to learn the lessons of Iraq. So let’s stipulate: We don’t want U.S. troops in Syria, and we don’t want U.S. troops in Crimea. A great power can become overextended, and if its economy falters, so will its ability to lead. None of this is simple.

But it’s also true that, as long as some leaders play by what Mr. Kerry dismisses as 19th-century rules, the United States can’t pretend that the only game is in another arena altogether. Military strength, trustworthiness as an ally, staying power in difficult corners of the world such as Afghanistan — these still matter, much as we might wish they did not. While the United States has been retrenching, the tide of democracy in the world, which once seemed inexorable, has been receding. In the long run, that’s harmful to U.S. national security, too."
[boldface added-DD]

Even the Washington Post recognizes:
i. "Military strength, trustworthiness as an ally, staying power in difficult corners of the world . . . still matter."
ii. " . . . accusing critics of being warmongers . . . of wanting "boots on the ground" , , , is a poor argument.
iii. "The tide of democracy in the world has been receding. . . . that's harmful to U.S. national security."

DonDiego recognizes, as does the Washington Post Editorial Board, that President Obama has shown weakness to the world.
This has consequences.

President Putin intends to restore Russia to a "Soviet Union".
President Obama intends to raise record funds for the Democratic Party.
One's priorities have consequences.

On the day that President Obama announced cutbacks in the US Army, President Putin took back the Crimea.
This is undoubtedly a coincidence.
Nonetheless, DonDiego opines, as does the Washington Post Editorial Board, "this could be harmful to U.S. national security."
One's policies have consequences.

However, what the hell do you think he is supposed to do? Send troops to oppose Russian troops in Crimea? Launch cruise missiles against them? Start a war over this? Really? I think not. The less he gets involved the better. Let the EU step up and try to ease things with the two parties for a change. We need to stay the hell out of this one. We don't need to be writing checks we can't possibly hope to cash! Not only do I agree with his low profile approach thus far, but, I hope he backs off even more.

I pretty much agree with this, stay the hell out it, it's none of our business. Getting tired of the US sticking its nose into everyone elses affairs.
