While Obama sleeps

DD just spent 9 paragraphs reinforcing my point. Don Diego doesnt want a military engagement with Russia....but he blasts the president for being "weak" ....and he also hints that Putins aggressions can be attributed to DD's perception of US weakness instead of the recent rebellion in Ukraine. Thats an incredibly interesting description of recent events.

The previous administration shared DonDiego's philosophy of using US Foreign policy to fight for Democracy in remote parts of the world on the basis of its importance to US security. The fruits and costs of those efforts are now a known quantity. If the US looks weak to the world its not because this president showed hesitation using military force in Egypt, Libya, and Syria.....its largely because we've spent 14 years, countless tours of duty, and over a trillion dollars of borrowed money to settle a pissing contest in Iraq. I would opine that people who supported that effort dont carry much weight in foreign policy strategy today
I'll tell you how to beat the Russians. Build that Keystone Pipeline and a lot more Pipelines. Quadruple our Fracking efforts. Drill Baby Drill. Then, make North America the worlds largest exporter of Oil and Natural Gas by supplying our European Partners so they can start a Russian Boycott.

In one fell swoop, we ignite our economy, help our allies, and hurt the Russians. As a nice byproduct we also disrupt OPEC. The bonus is it's a good plan even if this Russia thing didn't happen.

"On the day that President Obama announced cutbacks in the US Army, President Putin took back the Crimea.
This is undoubtedly a coincidence."

On the day obama said thereould be serious consequences for Russia, he showed how srious he was by attending a fundraiser.

Remember during the election when obama said the Cold War was over

I am not a defender of Obama in any way, shape, or form. Don't like him, never did. Probably never will. Don't agree with hardly anything he has ever had to say. However, what the hell do you think he is supposed to do? Send troops to oppose Russian troops in Crimea? Launch cruise missiles against them? Start a war over this? Really? I think not. The less he gets involved the better. Let the EU step up and try to ease things with the two parties for a change. We need to stay the hell out of this one. We don't need to be writing checks we can't possibly hope to cash! Not only do I agree with his low profile approach thus far, but, I hope he backs off even more.

Yes we do need to stay the hell out of this one. Where did you get the idea Europe is really worried about the situation over there? The country is bancrupt, corrupt as hell and has been part of the USSR for decades before the so called end of the cold war. Russia can have the Ukraine as far as most Europeans are concerned (except for politicians). The European Union is in no way comparable to the US. Each country still has its own laws, taxes, armies, languages, culture, etc. It's a political and economical union, nothing more nothing less. And tell me something else, what real treat has Russia been to Europe since the end of WWII? Europe and Russia aren't real enemies at this point. The cold war started with the ending of WWII. The Allied West saw communism as the new enemy, all Russia did after WWII is create a big "safety zone" between mother Russia and the West by drawing a line through Germany. It was Nazi Germany (Europe) which invaded Russia during WWII, not the other way around. We've been pissing on Russia's front lawn for years (Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Iran). Ask yourself the question: how would we respond if Russia was constantly disrupting life in Canada, Mexico, Cuba? We would be pissed as hell. Now look at Russia's response to our actions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Me thinks they've been pretty mellow during the last couple of decades. We must learn not to "overplay" our hand.

Lurker you are very naive.

Ask Ukrainians and they will get insulted if you call them Russia.

Threats, several years ago Russia turned off the natural gas to Europe.

I would think the Poles, Hungarians Czechs among others would take exception to your "safety zone". Why did Russia invade Hungary and Czechoslovia when they tried to break away?

NATO's military plans were always defensive, while Russia's plans were offensive.
Hahaha hoops, I'm afraid you got it the other way around buddy. NATO has shown Russia more aggression than the other way around. At the end of WWII wasn't it Patton who didn't want to stop at Berlin? He was one of the Allied Generals who wanted to march straight to Moscow. And for your info, Poland has been screwed by the West and the East. What recognition did Poland ever get for their part in WWII and the liberation of Europe? As far as Americans are concerned, Europe was liberated by us, the Canadians and the British, forget about the rest. Please hoops, in all your knowledge, please tell me who funded Nazi Germany before and during WWII?

And yes Russia turned off the natural gas to Europe. And we're trying to sell the world a story about our motives for getting involved in Syria. In reality we need a pipline from Qatar, through Syria and Turkey, to Europe to provide natural gas to Europe and cut off the Russians. Yeah, we're really worried about the chemical weapons, and yes Assad is a bad boy. But at the meantime we're financing Al-Qaida extremists together with Qatar and S-A. Reality is a bitch sometimes.

Yeah, DonDiego doesn't want a shooting war with Putin...he just wants to ridicule the president for not having a shooting war with Putin. Nice to have all those bases covered. Its a luxury afforded to people without responsibilty

That's the GOP way. No matter what Obama does, he gets criticized while the GOP is unable to offer better ideas.

While Obama slept, the GOP was worrying about wedding cakes for gays.

Gay marriage, the key to a robust economy!

Poland was defeated in the first month of the war in 1939. They had nothing to do with the liberation of the war. After gaining their independence from Russia, Poland has been a democracy and a strengthing economy.

The western allies could only liberate what they could as Russia took over eastern Europe.

Patton has nothing to with the cold war.

What aggression has NATO undertaken?

Hatred of homosexuals, the strong point of a weak mind.

Because he was killed. His assessment of the situation was essentially correct. He understood the collision of cultures better than the others. But the war in Korea was much more important than his death.
