While Obama sleeps

You've been misinformed about this subject hoops, Patton had very much to do with the cold war and Poland certainly had something to do with the liberation of Europa. The Polish actually were the ones that strongly opposed to Operation Market-Garden because they were convinced it would fail. But it was Monty's plan so it was going to happen. Polish paratroopers jumped into occupied Holland nevertheless and as a "thank you" from the British they have been kept out of the history books and killed Polish soldiers are tucked away in dark and remote corners of British military cemetaries in Europe.

Russia took over eastern Europe because the Allied forces immediately had a hostile additude towards the Russians as soon as Germany signed its formal surrender. Patton was one of the Generals that actually tried to convince Ike to march to Moscow and make it the Allied last stop in the "European" campaign. At the end of WWII is were NATO found its birth. And it's that moment in time when the West choose a hostile approach towards Russia. Don't forget, Germany lost WWII because of its war on two fronts. In reality the German army lost it's strenght at the Eastern front and the Russians are just as much part of the liberation of Europe as the Allied forces. I know it's more convenient for us to redefine history but that's where we are wrong and misinformed.

Want to know another interesting fact about the European Union? I'm sure most Europeans are more than willing to trade their Polish immigrants for our Mexican immigrants. Why do I know this stuff? I've lived in Europe for years (before coming to the US) and 90% of my relatives still live there. I grew up with WWII history, not the romantic Hollywood stuff we see on tv, but real, factual WWII History.

How exactly could this swap be arranged?
And would it be possible to add some Swedish blondes to the trade-list as well?
Or is LurkerPoster pulling everyone's leg?

Well if jillyf does find it, . . . DonDiego would like to know i. the longest contract available and ii. if a loading dock is required if one chooses to take delivery.

How funny DD picked this phrase from the entire post to respond to with a "snappy comeback". Do some reading DD, you might actually find something interesting about the problems Europe has with Polish, Bulgarian and Romanian immigrants. In fact I think many Europeans would actually prefer to have the "iron curtain" back.

General Patton died in December 1945, several months after being removed as governor of Bavaria. Still not sure what his contribution to the Cold War.

The Polish army had about 2,000 troops at Market Garden, about 5% of the Allied forces. Doesn't seem like a "major contribution"

Still looking for an example of NATO aggression

Hey!
LurkerPoster is the one who suggested a trade! DonDiego supports the idea, . . . and LurkerPoster gets all "Do-Some-Reading" about it!

Without reading DonDiego will take a stab at problems to which LurkerPoster refers:
__immigrants are different; they do not "look like us".
__immigrants take jobs away from the native population.
__immigrant youths form gangs and "cause problems"
__immigrants have "strange" religious beliefs.
__immigrants include a "bad element" who engage in criminal behavior.
__immigrants display bad habits.
__immigrants take the Country's money and send it "home".
__immigrants still have allegiance to their home country.
__immigrants "take advantage" of the Welfare State.

Except for the relatively new "welfare-state complaint" such concerns have always accompanied emigration/immigration. And always will.

Economic Growth and Time take care of the "immigrant problem".
If the Country accepting the immigrants is dynamic and growing and amassing wealth, . . . it's surprising how the issue disappears over time. And after a generation-or-two the former immigrants can start bitching about the new immigrants. [Reference the USA history of German, Irish, Italian, Polish, Chinese, Vietnamese, etc. immigration. [n.b. DonDiego considers involuntary importation of slaves distinct from voluntary emigration.]]

Ahh, . . . but if the Country is not growing and amassing wealth, . . . integration becomes difficult; the biases on both sides grow and fester. Conflict increases. DonDiego supposes slower growth may well become the norm worldwide, as resources dwindle and population grows. This may not turn out well.

For the record: DonDiego himself is the product of "immigrants", . . . the drunk-quarter is Irish, the mean-quarter is German, the less-than-perfect-teeth-quarter is English, . . . and the stupid-quarter is Polish. [Actually DonDiego is unsure about the quarters; some of them might be eighths. And whatever other contributions represent eighths, sixteenths, etc. DonDiego is unaware of anyway.]

What reading DonDiego has done on the matter suggests that time and economic growth pretty well still take care of the "immigration problem", even in the modern age . . . except, perhaps for two issues:
__Religious Allegiance. DonDiego recognizes the rise of Islamic Fundamentalism. When religious leaders really, really advocate that everyone must accept it as the one true belief or die, things may not turn out well in the Countries to which their intolerant adherents immigrate.
__State Welfare. Welfare is a relatively new phenomenon, because it requires sufficient "surplus" wealth to permit redistribution without doing significant harm to wealth producers. Historically this has not been the Human Condition. When people come to a Country to work, contribute, and improve themselves all is good. If people come to a Country to make do with welfare provided by others who do work, things may turn out badly.

DonDiego says: "Have a nice day."

Well I obviously can't help you with answers to your questions. You seem to have a hard time understanding anything that doesn't fit your current beliefs. Good luck with that. I'm out of this one, looking back at this, how stupid could I have been to think you could actually reason with people who have no interest in trying to understand anything you say. In other words: never mind, please continue.

He contributed while governor of Bavaria. He also contributed by dying.

You are the one who is ignoring the facts. Poland sends 2,000 troops to one battle and you think it is a big deal. Patton was dead before the Cold War started & you are unable to provide one instance of NATO aggression
