Who LIVES in Las Vegas?

So which members here live in Vegas??? State how long you have lived in Vegas. I almost took a job out there once. But turned it down, due to my friend saying it's cool at first, but would end up getting sick of it. My friend lived out in Henderson for 4 years and then moved back to San Diego, which is where I live as well. He had got a job that required him to stay for four years because of a special $20k bonus he got, which was part of the four year contract.
My wife and I love it here. Been here for 4+ years, lived relatively nearby for 25 years. Always something to do, and if we want to leave town for a weekend, lots of places to go...the mountains, desert, ocean, etc. We rarely eat at home, as there's always good deals on food.

That being said, just about every local that I've known seems to know someone who moved here and couldn't handle it. If you don't know your way around the system, it'll eat you up.
I've been here 6 years.
I have lived in Las Vegas for the last 21 years after moving here from the midwest. I really don't think it is much different from other cities I have lived in. They all have their good and bad. Most of the locals rarely go to the strip unless they have visitors in town.

I have been living in Las Vegas for just over 20 years, moving here in October 1991.

Love it
I have lived here off and on for 30+ years, if you could call it living. Of all the places I have lived Vegas is my least favourite, but something always seems to keep me here.

My primary sentiment towards Vegas is: Nuke it from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.

I like the ocean. I like small towns. I like greenery, lakes and rivers. I like cold climates and love the snow. I get overheated in temperatures over 80 degrees.

As a teenager a music scholarship kept me in town, then being close to my sick mother, then my job, then a girlfriend, then etc...

I have been trying to leave since I got here.
Sounds like you ought to move here. MN has you covered...sans the Ocean.

I'd probably love it. I'm just getting my life organized so I can leave without issue.

I think what bothers me most about Vegas is the silent dehumanizing nature of the place, which puts more emphasis on luck than hard work. I know honest hardworking family oriented people that find their life's earn overshadowed in an instant by some tourist that stuck $3 in a megabucks machine. It trivializes great achievement, drains the human spirit, and from my POV robs the value of truly worthwhile qualities.

In Vegas it's all about how you look and how much you make. Far too few people care how you made it, or who you are. Course that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.
Maybe the original question should have been, "How many forum readers reside in Las Vegas", because it seems like some don't "live" there.

How sad. One should be happy with the area they reside in, and should be able to "live".

I don't live in Las Vegas and I'm glad I don't. It is a great place to visit though. I could relate to "Seattle Rex" when he wrote about the summer time heat driving him bonkers. Those months from June thru August when the temps scorch over 100 degrees would make me go insane. In addition, if I had a job which required some outdoor work there would be no way I could live there and I like being out in the sun or going to the beach to surf but that desert sun/heat is way too much for me.
