franco802: I have lived here for 10 years now. My only regret--even considering the tanked economy--is that I didn't move here sooner. That being said, we did 4 years worth of research before commiting to locating here.

FrankKneeland: Your characterization of the dehumanizing nature of the place really does justice in detailing the dark side of Vegas. Give pause people, you need to weigh the pros and the cons before deciding to move here.

MedicluvsLasVegas: Basements are NOT standard issue in Vegas. There is a development in the Southern Highlands area that marketed floorplans with a "novelty" of a basement, but that is more the exception than the rule.

As for what you can do if you have discretionary income, that definitely improves your view of Vegas. I have a friend who could afford to build a custom home--as far from cookie-cutter as you can get. She has a below-ground wine cellar which was probably the most costly aspect of her customization.
