Why didn't the Dutch and Malaysian Aviation Authorities think first?

A little research has found that the US FAA forbids any of it's airlines to fly over or anywhere near the Ukrainian war zone. That makes sense for safety reasons. Better to be safe than sorry, as the saying goes.

Enter flight MH17, originating in Amsterdam and flying non-stop to KL, Malaysia. It is a code share flight with the flagship Dutch carrier, KLM. So, the question begs to be asked: why do these two countries automatically assume the US is wrong and there would be no problem whatsoever in flying over a restricted area for US carriers?

Sensible minds can only come to two conclusions here. First, the Malaysians believe that since they are primarily Muslim, no one would dare try to shoot them down. As for the Dutch, they definitely know better, however, it's their extreme liberal bias which forces them to take a position of tolerance, no matter what the threat. "These pro-Russian rebels are just freedom fighters trying to get what was once theirs, back for Mother Russia and they are not interested in causing any harm to anyone outside of Ukraine".

May all the unfortunate victims RIP, but may these and other socialist & pothead/diversity-infected countries learn a valuable lesson from this senseless tragedy.

A little further research finds that the US FAA had forbidden US airlines flying over the vicinity of Crimea where Ukraine had been locked in a border dispute with Russia since April.
It wasn't until after the Thursday intercept of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 by a Russian missile that the FAA expanded the restricted zone to all of eastern Ukraine.

I reached a different conclusion:

Looks like one of those "big government waste" agencies actually performs a valuable service after all.

Realizing that there are no standards of conduct here anymore, allow me to cut to the chase.

albeadle33 is the stupidest asshole this forum's ever seen. Like, Fred Phelps "God Hates Fags" stupid-asshole.

Seriously. What a stupid asshole.

I would have advised the same decision as the FAA and only charged $100,000, saving American taxpayers several hundred million.

The FAA actually does perform a function in life, however we only get to see the f*ups and the waste. Otherwise we would have a lot more planes crashing if these folks didn't do their jobs.

Any idiot should have been diverting aircraft as soon as the "rebels, russia) started shooting down military aircraft. However, it could be a good thing if the missile launcher can be traced back to mother Russia. Well, that is IF Obama actually does anything about it...

The way I look at this, whatever your personal opinion of another user may be, "flaming" that user on the forum is, IMHO, inappropriate and reprehensible.

I don't disagree. But per the comments on a neighboring thread about partisanship, why would you choose to pick this one as an example when there are daily public floggings from the far right on these boards?
Final note, what was I thinking weighing in on these political posts? I usually avoid them like the plague. ... Carry on. ... I am headed somewhere more pleasant.

I do not know why I chose this thread to respond in, or why I chose today to do so.

But really, is it necessary?
