Why even bother with Vegas anymore?

Gambling is more fun in Vegas. They have casinos here in Indiana and some of them have really good games....but its a much more dry experience. There's more energy in Vegas. Maybe thats because people have a "vacation" mentality as oppossed to "just going to kill a few hours" mentality

....or maybe Indiana just has too many boring people.

As a graduate of Indiana State University, I must concur.
The State is filled with very nice, well mannered, quiet, boring people.

Because Vegas is warmer than Minnesota

This past month Minnesota has been warmer than Vegas several times .... OK, that's a fluke.

I guess the answer to the question depends on your goals. If all you want to do is gamble, then it's pretty hard to justify Vegas over many nice casinos around the country. If you are looking for something else then Vegas probably has the upper hand.

My wife was the first to go to Vegas with her girlfriends and I didn't care about going to Vegas or any where else. I had my 25 year high school reunion and it happen to be in Vegas, what the hell, I'll go. The trip was three days over the week end. I had a terrible time because of the large group, but fell in love with Vegas. That was 13 years ago. I travel to Vegas 3 times a year now. Since then, I have gone to Disneyland, Disney World, Hawaii, gone on cruises, I just love to travel. I go to Vegas once in the spring, once in the summer and once during Christmas. Vegas will always be my number one destination. I have to travel a few miles out of state to the Indian casinos, but it's not the same as Vegas. Me and my wife drive three times a year 1600 miles round trip and enjoy the ride. Unless I'm not able to drive any more, I'm going to Vegas. Because of a class I'm attending, I'll won't be in Vegas until June.
I don't know that we'd do Vegas if we had to fly cross country like so many of you or, heaven forbid, internationally. And even before our move doubled our drive time we were cutting back. It's a good place to play golf, it's a great place to eat, and when we gamble there is some purpose to it; earning return trips to MoronGo or Rincon would be about as appealing as driving an AMC Gremlin.

If Vegas no longer fires someone's rocket, I say more power to 'em. There's an immense, rich country and world out there to experience.

Vegas is Vegas! I can't go into my local Indian casino and see anybody but a guy name Tonto. but, in Vegas I have seen and visited with Dominque Wilkins and Shaq. It was NBA allstar week or "thug week" to many. The vibe in vegas just seems so much more exciting on the strip than anywhere else I can go for the money.
Have not been since last Feb and I am getting pretty antsy to go again, sooooooon!

Take your pick.

Current number of licensed gambling places in Las Vegas 1701
Number of slot machines in the city 197,144
Annual visitors to Las Vegas, in millions 36.7

I guess 36 million visitors agree that Vegas is the place to go to gamble. (As well as do other things.

You forgot the Prostitution stats:

Number of legal brothels in Nevada: 28
Number of legal prostitutes in Nevada: roughly 300
Number of legal prostitutes in Vegas: 0

Number of people who THINK prostitution is legal in Vegas....

That is almost tantamount to saying you don't know who the president of the U.S. is.
