Why even bother with Vegas anymore?

Again with logic, snide? When will you learn?!?!
I don't think the 'young elite' demographic is the target of Friday's
If I can get decent airfare, I will definitely go back to Vegas. I have 2 free nights coming at the Orleans. Really do enjoy all the gaming options and the free cocktails while gambling. If gambling budget runs low, can always hang around Casino Royale for $1 Michelobs and $1 margaritas; or head to Ellis Island for their inexpensive good microbrews.

As others here have indicated - it's a personal choice as to where you want to spend your leisure time and money, but I don't think you can make generalizations about who would or wouldn't want to go to Vegas anymore, or why. To each their own! Cheers!

Yes it is a personal choice, but have a different opinion than the majority here or any message board and you get blasted by everyone who thinks they know how you should spend your time and money.
I love Vegas, but if I can't get away for more than a couple of days it is not worth flying across the country.
Years ago there were no other options, now there are.

We go twice a year, traveling from Virginia. True, airfare and rental cars have gone up, but as everyone else has said, there is nothing like the Vegas vibe.

Besides, there is ALWAYS something new to check out when we go. This summer, we'll go to the Mob Museum downtown, check out the new and improved Plaza and the D. We'll see Ron White for the 1st time. And while my wife will kick and scream the whole way, KISS mini-golf, baby!

Throw in the gambling, pools, restaurants, and shows, our traditional 8 or 9 day trip out there in the summer doesn't seem long enough...

Let's face it folks...VEGAS IS VEGAS...THE GAMBLING MECCA OF THE WORLD!!! Somehow, gambling anywhere else is just gambling...not VEGAS GAMBLING!!
Bags is right about Vegas, but it goes beyond gambling. It is a driving factor of course. I live just south of Seattle and have four tribal casinos within a 45 minute drive. Since they started up in the 90s, I've been to one of them three times and another once. It's just not the same feel.

I've never eaten at any of them, but am told there is some decent food to be had. The difference between them and LV is that you won't find any more deals than you'd find on any local restaurant scene.

Two of them have hotels and have very nice rooms. Once again the difference is in the deal. They go for $90-100 a night and that's your option. No going off strip for a good deal.

I don't drink much while gambling, but many do and if they want to do it up here, be sure to have the cash ready. No comp drinks in Wa.

The one area they do rival Vegas in would be the scenery. From the largest, you can walk out to the stunning view across the highway of the large bingo hal and the smoke shop. From another you can view evergreen trees as far as you can see. The other two (which are about 70 miles apart) afford you the unforgetable view of Interstate five. Take that Bellagio and Paris!

Throw into the mix that the slots are not slots, but actually Video Lottery Terminals. They pay out by law at the same rate as the state lottery at a whole 60%! I've never seen any decent VP. They have a lot of tricked up BJ games. Craps is craps, but the only time I've seen lower limits that suit my wallet is the one time I visited one in the morning hours. Temper this with fact that I haven't been to one in a couple of years, so things might not be that way now.

Add to this that when I visit LV, I'm on vacation and here I'm not (although I guess I could be if I was nuts). Vegas has nice warm/hot weather most of the year and western Wa does not. If I want to casino hop, the minimum drive is about 20 minutes. Think the Rio to Sam's Town. All in all, there not much to compare with LV.

Good Luck!

By default, Vegas wouldn't really exist if not for gambling, so at the foundation gambling is essential. But assuming for a minute that Vegas could stand w/o gambling, for our interests we'd be just as displeased if the food and golf scene were to disappear as if gambling were to disappear. For some of us hammering hours on end in a smoked-filled casino is about as appealing as minor surgery, yet we all like to gamble to some extent. Gambling is for us something we avail ourselves of in Nevada, and Nevada only. It's fun. But it's not all we do in Vegas, and gambling or the lack thereof certainly isn't a driving force in our vacation planning.

Different strokes.
Why even bother with Vegas threads anymore if the board is filled with a bunch of whinny crap by a very lonely man who plays with bunnies?
If I ever reach a point where justification is required, I will stop going.
