Why I adore Downtown Vegas!

We went to Las Vegas for the first time on our 25th anniversary in 1984 and stayed at The Frontier. We went once a year for 20 years and stayed at a different casino every year. It was great. We walked The Strip every day. Now we go twice a year. We stay downtown 5 nights and 4 nights at The Orleans or Gold Coast. Our walking the strip days are over but we can still enjoy Las Vegas.
Sadly I can no longer play high enough to rate comped Golden Nugget Rush Tower rooms. But I can get free Plaza, Four Queens, and the D rooms. Good enough for me!!

Thanks for reading and commenting! I appreciate it!
I kind of miss the old downtown. Now its all about fad bars , food trucks and containers. These days, the walk from Fremont St Experience to El Cortez isn't the least bit dangerous.
The Vegas Club is gone. The D and The Grand are putting on airs. God herself wouldn't recognize the Gold Spike. Benny Binnions been exiled to South Point, Robertas and Careful kitty's have gone the way of the dodo.
Gentrification Sux.

I like the new downtown. Although, the time my wife and I were asked to leave Gold Spike and walked down Fremont to the Western at 1am still amuses us. We were a lot more scared of the cashier lady at the Western than the security guard at Gold Spike.

Like the beautiful Teechur, my wife stands out as a wholesome beauty and has trouble blending in with the downtrodden downtown denizens.

I'll stick with Southpoint at this stage, but I had some great trips staying at Main Street Station
South Point rocks. Great mailings, good games, great funbook. The apple didn't fall far from Jackies tree.
The guac/bean/salsa trio at the mexi place is solid. Great for pre or post drinking. And the clam chowder at the oyster bar is the best I've had (and I live close to the Oregon Coast where we have Mo's). I have my favorite bank of machines. Decent prime rib. Movies. Hell I think the last time I went there I literally never went outside for 3 days. And saying that out loud sounds really unhealthy
