Why I don't rent a car in Vegas

We walk, use the monorails and cabs.

How the hell does one state rate as more dangerous than the next, all the while having the same number of people dying per 100 million miles driven? It's a terrible study.

I don't rent a car in Vegas because I'm certain to be drinking. We leave it to the taxi drivers.
I rent a car "every" time I go to Las Vegas. The stress of relying on buses and taxi's to get me to places on time (the airport leaving) would drive me nuts! My State Farm insurance company told me I am covered to drive in LV so insurance is no biggie. As far as the bad drivers, I have seen them and have been in a fender bender on one of my trips but I would not think twice about weather or not to rent a car while I am in LV
If I traveled to Vegas on business, thus not drinking, I would unquestionably rent a car.

I've rented a couple of times the half a dozen trips that I've taken a date to Vegas. There is less drinking for me on those types of trips.

We always use Presidential Limo from airport and back. It's worth it to make sure you get there on time and the long hauling was getting out of hand. Plus who wants to be stressed out before they even get to their hotel? The shuttles can add an extra 20 mins. or more to the trip with all the stops. Always have the limo stop at the drugstore to get a case of water for the week/trip.
I'll take Vegas drivers over Chicago's any day.

Gotta have the rental car. The best best places to play are off strip.
Always rent a car. Don't want to rely on busses, taxis or others to get me where and when I want to go. Don't drink when I am traveling but wait till I get back to the hotel I am staying at.
We always rent a car, even before I got on dialysis. To much stuff to go and do/see outside of the strip and downtown. I have to say the taxes and fees are getting out of hand which at some point they will price themselves out of our budget.
We always rent a car while in Las Vegas. As mentioned above my insurance man said we were covered but I rent with American Express card and for $24.95 a week. Yes I still have my credit card tied up for the deductible in case of accident but it was explained to me it would be recovered once claim is settle American Express would issue a check. The rental companies deal with you and you go from there. $24.95 is really not a bad price and puts my mind at ease while traveling I-15. We are always taking off in a different direction every morning for breakfast and makes it nice to just pick up and go.
Always rent a car and we are talking well over a 100 trips. Sometimes we use it alot, but most of the time only once or twice a day...but we are mobile and can do what we like. Would never consider not renting a car, especially since car rentals there are less expensive than most place we go. But than that is my only cost for the trip (plus parking at the home airport and early bird tickets).
