Why Not Tim Tebow for President?

Why not Tim Tebow for President??? Really.

None of the Republican candidates for the nation's highest office have exactly swept the country off its collective feet, while Tim Tebow has captured our hearts like no one since Fonzi on Tuesday nights back in the 1970s or Regis Philbin with his Who Wants to Be a Millionaire 12 years ago. Tebow has that kind of appeal.

It is true that Tebow will have football commitments each fall. But U.S. Presidents have a long history of playing a lot of golf, from Clinton to Bush to Obama, really all presidents beginning with FDR. Being in Denver part of the time isn't that big of a deal today with Skype and IPads, etc.

And if there is a national emergency during a game, not only would the offensive coordinator be able to signal in plays, it could be arranged to have the President's Chief of Staff have access to the audio system in case he needs to know China has dropped the A Bomb on Seattle or the Germans start bombing Pearl Harbor again.

It would be important to have a strong Vice President back in Washington, D.C. with Tebow out of town so much, but a strong-willed personality like Sarah Palin would do the trick.

Um no thanks on both accounts. Palin is Dubya with lady parts, and Tebow is religiously insane.

[Tim] Tebow was born in Makati City in the Philippines, to American parents who were serving as Baptist missionaries at the time. His mother, Pamela Elaine (née Pemberton), is the daughter of a U.S. Army colonel, and his father, Robert Ramsey Tebow II, is a pastor. While pregnant, his mother suffered a life-threatening infection with a pathogenic amoeba. Because of the drugs used to rouse her from a coma and to treat her dysentery, the fetus experienced a severe placental abruption. Doctors had expected a stillbirth and recommended an abortion to protect her life, although abortions are illegal in the Philippines, but she decided not to have one.

Part of the constitutional provision as it appeared in 1787Status as a natural-born citizen of the United States is one of the eligibility requirements established in the United States Constitution for election to the office of President or Vice President. This requirement was an attempt to allay concerns that foreign aristocrats might immigrate to the new nation and use their wealth and influence to impose a monarchy.

The Constitution does not define the phrase natural-born citizen, and various opinions have been offered over time regarding its precise meaning. The Congressional Research Service has stated that the weight of scholarly legal and historical opinion indicates that the term means one who is entitled under the Constitution or laws of the United States to U.S. citizenship "at birth" or "by birth," including any child born "in" the United States (other than to foreign diplomats serving their country), the children of United States citizens born abroad, and those born abroad of one citizen parent who has met U.S. residency requirements.[1]

The natural-born-citizen clause has been mentioned in passing in several decisions of the United States Supreme Court and lower courts dealing with the question of eligibility for citizenship by birth, but the Supreme Court has never directly addressed the question of a specific presidential or vice-presidential candidate's eligibility as a natural-born citizen.
Oh come on. He's not old enough to be president. He might make a decent King of Colorado though.
Mitt Romney's dad was born in Mexico, yet George was a serious GOP candidate for President in 1968.

Phillippines, Mexico, won't matter if he hugs the party line.
Johnny McNumb Nuts was born in Panama and ran for president last time around.

when I read "Germans start bombing Pearl Harbor again". Thinking of that scene in the Delta House when Belushi was giving his pep speech !

Tebow no worse than any of the other candidates the GOP has trotted out for public viewing !
