Will the lights go out in Appalachia this time?

Pj - one more time, it is the minority party - the democrats who are threatening to shut down the govt
The same folks who did this calculation did the jobs created. Oh wait, the term was changed to "saved or created" so they could fudge any number that they liked...................and they did.

Of course not. But I'll gladly reference the 24 billion dollar hole it put in the economy.

So next time Boilerman gets atop his Ivory tower to preach about the pro-business ideology of Republicans (including Boilerman) we can all have a good laugh.

I live in the DC area, which is the one most hit I guess, I knew one person that was laid off for the month or so and he looked at it as a vacation. All Fed workers did too I'm sure because they all knew they were going to be receiving all back pay when it was over and a lot of them went on vacation, kicked back or whatever during the shutdown. It was NO BIG DEAL for the majority.

I'd eally like to know how anyone could give any type of accurate estimate , in real dollars, on such a situation as a shutdown. Do they count down to the actual bag of chips and hot dog that wasn't sold from the food cart on the corner? Twenty four billion in a 18 trillion dollar economy is jack anyway.

Boiler would support a move to limit voting to the "makers". When "takers" vote, the country will inevitably collapse...................which makes it unsustainable.

So you want to ridicule those who find the practice of using aborted babys for tissue or whatever immoral, reprehensible, revolting, etc.? I truly find some of the practices of PPH disgusting and unnecssary and I'm pro-choice. Go figure. I fully understand the stand some are taking and yet I would never ridicule those who disagree.

I dont ridicule people for being pro-life. I ridicule people for advocating shutting down the government. I have huge issues with the voting rights act being knocked down - I haven't planned a rally to shut down the government over it. Please ridicule me if I do.

ps- I really hope you aren't investing in any bio-tech stocks, jatki. They're the ones curing cancer with knowledge gained from the reprehensible practices you hate so much.

Okay....for those of you new to the FFA forums and Boilerman's hatred of the working man in America, let me decode what exactly the supposed Purdue graduate just typed on this forum:

"Makers"= Republicans
"Takers" = Democrats

What the boiler means is he would support a move to limit voting to REPUBLICANS ONLY, and that Democrats, working poor, and those on government assistance would not be allowed to vote.

Spoken like a typical Republican thug who has been watching too much Faux news and listening to way too much AM radio Goebbels/Koch programming.

Get over yourself Boilerman. Your attempts to bully me and others off this FFA forum are weak, pathetic, and delusional. You're a tool of the uberRich, Faux News, Koch Brothers, and other right wing nutjob organizations.

You get for that asinine post !

The leader of the shutdown effort, Ted Cruz, disagrees with you....and so does the internet.

Marcis, you are confused. A "maker" is one who sends more in taxes to the government than they receive in benefits. Political affiliation is not relevant. Furthermore, and I've posted this before, Boiler listens exclusively to sports talk radio.

I am correct when stating that as a majority of Americans have no concern about increasing taxation, because they pay none, we are doomed. They will vote for ever increasing benefits to be paid by others, which is unsustainable. We have already crossed this threshold.

It's a matter of time, but we're toast.

Oh - please do provide evidence where cancer was cured through the use of aborted fetal tissue from Planned Parenthood.

Using your logic and link, the NRA is just a bit less popular than Planned Parenthood. How would you feel if the NRA received significant tax dollars to give gun safety classes?

I understand are not in favor of a government shutdown to stop reprehensible practices and I am open to other ideas. Since Congress supposedly controls the purse strings there has to be a way short of a government shutdown to eliminate government funding of an institution that sells body parts of aborted babies. But if not - shut it down!
Again why defund the government (that is not spending money on abortions) when you have a guy, Dr. Ben Carson, that participated in fetal research? Shouldn’t the Republicans stop funding that guy first?

How about vaccines for...

  • German measles
  • Chicken pox
  • Hepatitis A
  • Rabies

    ...developed with fetal tissue research.
  • I want to go on record that I support Boilerman. The more restrictions on voter rights the better.

    But admittedly I am a bit jaded. I'm sweet on Boiler.
