Will Uber and Lyft Deliver?

Uber & Lyft don't "expect" tips how the cabbies come to expect. With Uber the fare automatically posts to your Paypal account. Recently I tried Lyft, and after a $10 credit was applied to my fare my total fare was $1.85. Lyft has an option to tip so I tipped $1, using Paypal as well. I got the impression that Uber & Lyft drivers rather receive a good review using the app. One Uber driver asked me to please give him a good review. He had free bottled waters in the side consoles inside his car which I thought was pretty neat so of course he got a good review from me (lol).

Both companies are popular and successful in Austin, where one of my kids drives for Uber. If you're a first-time Uber user send me a PM and I'll get you hooked up with a free $20 ride, good in any city where they operate.....

I haven't even downloaded the apps yet.

I will be in Vegas in two weeks and I can't wait to try them out!
Both companies if possible.

As long as the Hotels have posted an "Uber / Lyft" stand within clear sight to be picked up / dropped off everything should be a full go!

I was in Vegas Sept 18-21 and the pickups and drop offs were a little sketchy (long wait times and dropped off in the middle of nowhere, i.e. - back of TI hotel Casino and Palazzo parking Garage, ha!)

But with opportunity for comped rides off referrals I bore the brunt of frustration.

I'm a huge Uber and Lyft fan in other cities so I believe this should also be a success in Vegas!

I suspect that their struggles in Vegas are directly tied to the political strength of the taxi organizations. Apparently, they are not allowed to drop off at the front door, but instead must be relegated to locations near the back door.

Call me paranoid, but I would not want to be an Uber or Lyft driver in Las Vegas. Taxi drivers in Vegas are unionized and before all of this is over, I suspect there could be vandalism and even violence.

The idea of union members utilizing vandalism and violence to intimidate is shocking.................just shocking. Several of our friends assured on this site that this never happens, and I believe them.

I can understand why you're shocked. Normally the genuine redneck, trailer trash, ultra conservative wackjob utilizes vandalism and violence. You know, people who share most of your ideas.
