Will Uber And Lyft Deliver?

Interesting. I've never been called any of these things by my friends or co-workers. Boiler's neck sometimes does get red after he plays four rounds of golf over four days, however. Sometimes that also happens on the first day of golf in the Spring, but I'm not certain if any of this justifies ridicule.

The idea of union members utilizing vandalism and violence to intimidate is shocking.................just shocking. Several of our friends assured on this site that this never happens, and I believe them.

I can understand why you're shocked. Normally the genuine redneck, trailer trash, ultra conservative wackjob utilizes vandalism and violence. You know, people who share most of your ideas.

Lyft and Uber have their equivalent of the dreaded "resort fee" called Trust & Safety fee. Full disclosure.

thank you for pointing that out surf87. soon they will be telling us that the fee includes the heat and air in the car, the seat, seatbelt, and so on.
Does anyone actually DRIVE for either of these services, and do you make any money?

My wife keeps telling me I need to get a damn job

Champion, I had asked one driver how much percentage they make off the fare. It was 80% to 90% of the fare (the organization takes 10% or 20%), I can't recall exactly but in that range. Another driver said the most he made in one day was $200. I'm guessing that the calculations didn't take into account, wear and tear, gasoline, insurance, etc.
My son's car insurance specially excludes coverage if driving for Uber or lyft or similar.
I know that Uber drivers are covered for insurance by the company just for the minutes that they are driving a passenger. In fact, they are sent an electronic copy of the specific and individual insurance policy for each pick up.

Second hand info......I know a retired police officer that drives for Uber. She loves it. She claims to only need to clear $1500 a month (after gas cost) and quits for the month when she reaches it. The longest she has had to work was around 90 hours, which includes waiting around time.
Seems like a lot of time for little pay to me.
I've used Uber, & Lyft dozens of times here in beautiful South Florida. Primarily to go to/from the casino.

A taxi fare, without tip ranges from $20- $23.00. My Uber or Lyft fare average about $11.00.

That may change starting today, as the county has passed a law allowing them to operate, and to get a piece of the pie. (Airport pick ups, drop offs at FLL are $4.50 extra, Port Everglades $2.00 extra) The cost per mile may have increased slightly as well, I'll find out later.

NEW users to Lyft receive several promotional rides, credits, or something for signing up. Uber usually gets one free ride. You can also get a promotion code from an existing user which will give you a $20.00 credit on one ride, and the referrer $20. as well.

I'd be happy to send anyone the promotional codes for either.

Overall, I find the TNC to be faster, cleaner, friendlier, and, most important, far less expensive.

I will say I am super shocked if they are not allowed to drop off passengers at the main entrance to a casino or hotel. I can understand an "alternate" pick up location, but not for a drop off.
