Windows 10 is such an Improvement

I finally got around to updating my main laptop, and I love it. It feels like everything is back where it should be. The new browser Microsoft created (Edge) to replace Internet Explorer is elegant. I am going to upgrade my second laptop and my old desktop.
Do it now while it is still free. The base price will be about $99 later.
I got it the first week, it actually seems a bit faster than 8.1. Memory usage is a bit less and programs are running ok.
Still using windows 7.and Microsoft is going to have to try and pry it out of my dying hands.

I'm still a 7 guy and I'll be shopping for a buddy to get a NEW computer and It will come with Windows 7 O.S. inside.
Yes,you can buy them that way, still.
My old HP desktop is OK, but only 6 GB of RAM.
My Lenovo,W10 has 16 GB and it is very fast.1 TB SSD,but I seldom use it. Maybe printing.

I'll work with 7 as my work horse/donkey.
I could put 7 on my Lenovo. Not this week. It's my back up to my 7. I have a stack of back up CD ROMS for it.

Funny,I had my Lenovo for over a year and I did my first system back up/system image just last week.
It freaked out and scared me.Happy now.

If you see some old guy in 'Vegas, you will know it's Dave.

Win 10 is so much better than 8. I',m not a tech guy and me stumbling around with win8 was like a monkey trying to F a football. I hated it.

BTW Dave, your photo killed the thread, way ,way too big. Can't read the edges of peoples posts.
Yep. Killed it dead.

Had some comments I wanted to make about this topic.

But they’re in paragraph/sentence format, so they’ll run off the end of the page.
Folks won’t be able to read ‘em, unless I convert to short, choppy sentences.

Too much trouble. Sheesh.
OK, I'm gonna give it a try. I'll be inserting manual line breaks here to try to keep everything in the field of view.
The only way I can reply at all is by using the "Quick Reply" feature (which, I know, not all browsers offer) because
the regular Reply/Quote buttons are somewhere waaaaaaaay out there --------------------------->

Here's what I wanted to say:

I did the free upgrade to Win10 from (in my case) Win7, played around with it for 4 days, and ultimately decided to
go back to Win7. If you do the free upgrade, you have 30 days during which you may revert back to your previous
operating system.

If I had upgraded to Win10 from Win8/8.1, I'm sure I would have stayed with Win10. However, Win7 to me is like
a comfortable old pair of sneakers, and seeing no particular advantage to Win10 for the things I do most, I opted
to go back.

For the record, the free upgrade to Win10 worked flawlessly, but it took about 1 hour and 20 minutes to complete.
The switch back to Win7 took about 30 minutes and also went well, except that my Microsoft Office programs
(Word, Excel, etc.) wouldn't work until they were (re)activated. That amounted to simply clicking on a button and
waiting about 10 seconds.

Win7 computers are getting harder to find. Mainstream support for Win7 has already ended, although extended
support (security updates only) will continue until January 14,2020 (see: Windows Lifecycle)

If that means the next computer I buy has to have Win10, at least I know from my 4-day experiment that I can
live with it. Much better, in my opinion, than Win8/8.1.
Last fall I stumbled on what may have been the last Win7 west of the Mississippi.
Snapped it up, happy with it. Been getting the pop ups to upgrade to 10 for free right now.
Haven't been anxious to take the bait, so thanks, clcjim, for reporting your experience.
I'll try to remember NOT to use that method of posting photos....
I didn't mean to be a HOG.

I won't go back to Win 8.1.
Either 10 or back to 7.
