A Winning Gulf Coast Trip

Mrs. Tut and I just got back from a great road trip. We drove from Tampa, Florida to New Iberia, Louisiana to surprise her sister for her 40th birthday. Her sister had no idea we were coming and it was a total surprise.

Going up we had stops in Pensacola, New Iberia, The Cypress Bayou Casino, which is close to New Iberia. I highly recommend this casino. It is in the middle of nowhere but they treat you right. Even the $5.00 shoe games have great conditions. DAS, 3/2, dealer stands on soft 17 etc.

Mrs. Tut and I always play side by side.

The first night we played $10.00 blackjack and went to bed $300.00 ahead after a $200.00 buy in.
The next morning we played a little more $10.00 blackjack before we checked out and we left a total of $700.00 ahead. We really didn’t play much but they gave us $60.00 in comps.

BTW the food in their steakhouse is over the top good and everyone we encountered was friendly.

Coming home we stopped in Biloxi, Panama City Beach and Steinhatchee. I can’t say enough about the Holiday Inn Resort in Panama City Beach. Nothing like a nice drink and live music out by the beach while watching the sun go down over the Gulf Of Mexico. Of course this was topped off with a great meal.

In Biloxi we played at the Beau Rivage which is an MGM property, it reminds me of a mini Bellagio. We also played at The IP which is a Boyd property.

The first night at the Beau Rivage we played $1.00 VP. I lost my $40.00 in free play and Kathy turned hers into a $60.00 profit. We then tried $10.00 blackjack and $10.00 LIR. We lost $500.00 and went to bed.
The Beau Rivage is a beautiful property but the vibe just doesn’t work for me. I seem to always lose at this property.

After a great nights sleep we walk down to the IP.

This is where it gets interesting. My wife and I settle on in at a penny Jackpot Party machine. I lose my hundy in a hurry. She keeps hanging on. After several bonus rounds she says to me, go ahead and play this bonus. I wound up getting $985.00 on the bonus round. She plays it down to $1000.00 even and we head over to a $50.00 double deck game.

At the IP the $50.00 Double Deck game is in the high roller room (I know, but it is Biloxi, not Vegas). We buy in for $300.00 and in less than an hour we are up over $2000.00.

We cash out and go have a great meal at Mary Mahoney’s which is a gulf coast treasure.

We head back to the Beau Rivage knowing this is our last hurrah before we drive back to Tampa. We jump on a $50.00 double deck game and buy in for $300.00. In short order we are up another $2300.00.
I can’t tell you how good it felt to finally win at that casino.

I am bad at keeping a strict tally of our money but I will say we brought $1000.00 in cash and put $5300.00 in the bank today.
Congrats on the nice wins, and thanks for sharing.
Fantastic! I like Beau Rivage and have won there and Hard Rock a few times. I was just there during "Cruisin' The Coast" event and I got tee shirt for husband and friend. Total $30 taxi ride to the convention center and back to get two $23 tee shirts, but, heck it kept me out of the casino. Loved just watching the classic cars driving up and down Beach Blvd.

I played $10 blackjack two nights and came out ahead, but not nearly what you did.

Thanks for the TR. Congratulations on a fun and profitable trip!
Nice win!

It's all about balance in the universe. I lost this past weekend in Vegas. You're welcome.

Did you by chance stay out on Pensacola Beach?

No we did not. We were on a mission to get to New Iberia on the way up so we stayed at the Comfort Inn on Davis Road in Pensacola because it is close to the interstate.

On my next trip up that way we plan on staying at the Margaritaville Hotel on the beach.

Why do you ask?
What a great trip Tut! Always great to read about a successful time. I'm the same way, I know how much I take and what I bring back (or don't) is how I gauge our winnings(losses). Happy for you and Mrs. Tut
