Bad, Bad Leroy Brown - Jim Croce
Since this is about songs, I have a question for all of you. I'm sure you've seen the new M+M commercial featuring the Meatloaf song, " I Would Give Anything For Love". But then he says, " but I won't do that!" So what is "that"? Has he ever stated in an interview or something what "that" was? Just curious. Just looked up the lyrics on songlyrics.com, and boy it sure was a long song. Just quickly scanning the lyrics, it looks like he won't lie to her or screw around on her even though she will on him.
From Wikipedia:

Meat Loaf says that the question, "What is 'that'?" is one of the most popular questions he is asked.

Each verse mentions two things that he would do for love, followed by one thing that he will not do. The title phrase repetition reasserts that he "won't do that". Each mention of "that" is a reference to the particular promise that he made earlier in the same verse. The four things he says he will never do are:

  • forget the way you feel right now
  • forgive myself if we don't go all the way tonight
  • do it better than I do it with you
  • stop dreaming of you every night of my life
