Worryfree Vacations

Whatever happened to this company that was somewhat like Allegiant Air that use to have discounted Vegas flights and vacation packages? I use to fly them to Vegas out of Oklahoma City all the time..
We did years ago also.
Was that the name of the airline?
Some were on Champion and some were on Sun Country.

MLT or something of that sort..
My guess is American Trans Air, later ATA Airlines.

Charter and scheduled out of Indianapolis, bankrupt in 2008.
Used to book thru them as well. Just checked, they still exist, seems like they just book rooms. Also seem to be connected to Delta here in Michigan.
We used to use that company all the time when we went to Vegas in the 80's. One of my friends moms best friend was a travel agent at the time. They would fly out of St. Louis on Sunday and Thursday. For the Sunday flights, she would call them up on Wednesday or Thursday and ask them how many seats they had left on the plane. She would then ask them how much would they sell them all to her if she bought them all. She would then start making phone call to all her clients that were retired or could get away at the last minute. She had such an extensive list of people she almost never got stuck with any seats. My friends mom was going twice a month sometimes.

At the time, I was working at the Post Office which was at the other side of the airport. We would get off work on Sunday at 2:30 in the afternoon. The plane left for Vegas at 3:30. We would have a taxi waiting for us when we got off and head straight to the airport. My off days were Thursday and Friday so I would only have to use three of my vacation days to spend five in Vegas. The great part about it was, since the casinos wanted to keep his mom happy, they would comp us our rooms just like they did for her. I remember one trip we paid $69 round trip because they had so many seats left on the plane. Most of the time we paid $99. I really miss those days.

worry free vacations was also popular in hawaii, using ATA as the airlines to get to vegas. their prices from honolulu to vegas were very low compared to the major airlines, they also had some good hotels available at good rates. too bad those days are long gone, hawaii could use the airline competition again, hopefully in 2015 SW will get into the hawaii market and cause another fare war again. while allegiant has come into the hawaii market, their nickel and dime and constant flight delays and cancellations have turned off many hawaii flyers. SW should provide a good alternative to the major airlines, hopefully they will continue to offer no baggage fees (or at least minimal fees compared to the other airlines). we can only hope.

Wow! That brings back great memories for me! We used to fly them all the time out of MSP; the prices were CHEAP!! The planes were either Champion or Omni. Another nice plus was, like Sun Country, they flew out of HHH airport in Minneapolis and that's a lot smaller airport and much easier to get around. The planes were old and crowded, but for the prices it was worth the hassle. I seem to remember several times paying around $100 RT. I miss them!!
