Would you pay to go see Mr. Las Vegas?

I think I would.

He is part of Las Vegas history. While he is supposedly having problems with his voice, I think he has always been a good guy and would have a lot to share about Las Vegas and his career.

March 31, 2016 09:35 'Mr Las Vegas' Returns - It's Official: As strongly rumored (see "Today's News" 3/24/2016), things seem to be turning around for Wayne Newton, who's back at his beloved Casa de Shenandoah estate, is among the headlining talent booked for Grand Opening night at the new T-Mobile Arena, and now is also to star in his own one-man show at Bally's beginning April 21. Wayne Newton: Up Close and Personal, follows the recent precedents set by the likes of Mike Tyson, Meatloaf, and others, offering a more intimate and interactive audience experience. In the show, Newton will share stories and footage from his epic career, engage in Q&A sessions, and perform a few crowd-pleasers like "Danke Schoen" (although the emphasis won't be on singing). Tickets go on sale April 7 and start at $75.
I can't see going with all the other entertainment options in Vegas. Maybe if the reviews are great after the 1st few weeks of shows I'd think about it.
DonDiego would not go to Mr. Newton's show.

He opines the sight of all his fans throwing their granny-panties onstage would be too disheartening.

His estate is right down the road from my new apartment. I'd like to take a tour of it if I find a nice enough discount coupon. As for his show, I'd go if I'm comped.
I joined Seatfilla and suspect there will be lots of tix for his shows..

No thank you!!! I saw him years ago at the Trop in Atlantic City. We had free tickets, thank God. He could no longer carry a tune, his voice keeps on breaking on every sentence, it sounded like a record that kept skipping over parts. People in front of us had bought his new CDs that were for sale - once they heard him, you should have seen their faces!!! It was priceless.
I suspect he'll be able to lip -synch as well as Brittany.
I admire the guy. He became famous in his teens, was made fun of for his baby face and high pitch of voice, though people who went to see him were mesmerized at his ability to entertain. He didn't let on that any of the teasing bothered him, if it did.

He continued to evolve as an amazing entertainer. That's how I want to remember him.

Now, if somehow he has recovered vocally I would pay to see the show.
I'll also wait for the reviews.
I saw him in about 2000 with his show at the Stardust. His voice was well on the downhill slide at the time and it's probably close to gone now. He was a fantastic entertainer though and it was a great show. I'm not much of a show guy, so I wouldn't pay full bore, but would go for a discount. From the sounds of it, most of the show will storytelling of the old days and showing his instrument range, which is great. The stories would be great.

About ten years ago I played golf with my good buddy and a fellow worker. The other guy was semi-retired having been a food buyer for the Sands in it's hey day. After golf we had lunch at the Suncoast and listened to stories about the Rat Pack era and more for over two hours. As we were leaving I snatched the check and he said he'd pay with comps. I said "Are you kidding? This is the best show I've been to in Vegas!" He still got the check, but what an afternoon.

I'm sure Newton's show will have a lot of that.

Good Luck!

Newton on the Larry King Show
Well said! This show is really about the stories. I know he will attempt a couple of songs but only a fool would expect a vintage voice. He also can play several musical instruments. You can bet this show will be available at the tix4tonite booths and may be a decent choice.
