Would You Still Visit Vegas If The Drinks Weren’t Free?

in most states it is against the law for the casinos to offer free drinks. Vegas SHOULD (continue) to capitalize on that.
I agree it would kill the bar top business. I usually drink just wine at home, but when visiting Vegas I like to try out different drinks and I do like to sit at the bar at night play VP and drink vanilla vodka and Kahlua. I have them make it with Stolies YUM . This is my relaxing down time.

I would probably still go but it would put a dent in my gambling budget. I will not gamble at the bar in Mandalay bay because they wouldn't give me water and a drink. So as long as there are choices I will look for them.

I drink water all day and I also try and drink one water for one alcohol drink at night, I am well aware of the dry heat and what it can do.
When Drmilled sells a used car or house does he also attempt to maximize his profit, or does he instead discount the sale by 25% and serve free drinks during the negotiation?

"Free drinks" is a misnomer - everyone who is gambling and who gets a "free" drink is actually paying for or has paid for those "free" drinks with their past play. The bean counters are once again chipping away at your bankroll by charging for these "free" drinks. Newbies and future newbies will of course pay for these drinks while those who helped fund the growth of Vegas will be disgusted to see another used-to-be Vegas mainstay go by the wayside. There are those who post here that will say that it is OK, just like the ripoff "resort fees" 6/5 blackjack and the ever tightening of the games. I say "BULLSHIT"! Just how G.D. greedy do you have to be? Of course Vegas could care less about what I say or feel, after all I am not the type of "customer" they want. So be it. The Vegas we used to know and love is swirling the bowl and as long as the future visitors keep paying for what used to be free the bean counters will keep raking in the money and tightening the screws.

FWIW, Mississippi casinos give free drinks.

And, if you aren't such a tight wad (drmilled comes to mind) you can finess a true double whatever or top shelf drink at the machines. Three steps: 1) A good personality, 2) a few extra bucks UP FRONT, and 3) a little patience with the CW if it takes a minute or five longer.

No charge for this free advice.

You can order a double, or top shelf cocktail at the machine and give your one dollar tip, but you likely won't get what you order. If by some miracle you do, and you tip your $1 after she brings it, the next one won't likely be a double, or she'll say "sorry, the bartender can't make doubles." Remember, the CW has to share tips with the bartender.

Show a few extra bucks (again, up front, when you order), and you can get almost anything you want. This has never failed, even in Vegas. I had to educate my husband, but he is a believer now. He can get doubles or whatever, and he isn't even gambling!

But, hey, I'm happy with the regular drinks for my $1 tips. Just information, that's all.

Either way, it is a bargain. Where can you get a cup of coffee for a dollar anymore? (Except at McDonald's, if you order a "senior coffee.")

I've had too much coffee today...can you tell? Anyway, good luck and have fun!

Boilerman you should pick your battles wisely. First of all Vegas is not selling houses or used cars. "Free" drinks have been a Vegas staple for decades. Now, the greedy corporate "bean counters" are continuing to gouge the Vegas visitors every way possible. I, and many who have visited Vegas for years are fed up with the continuing gouging. But as I said, Vegas does not want me as a customer - they want the young and foolish who would not know a good deal if it hit them between the eyes. If I should ever decide to sell a home or used car I will notify you so that you can tell me how I should do business.
Let's please clarify Drmilled's position on greed. When "milled" sells a car, is he greedy and maximizes his profits?

Let's try and stay on topic - we are talking about Vegas and corporate greed. It is obvious that Boilerman has spent so much time arguing with the bleeding heart liberals that he has taken a page out of their playbook and changed the content of the original topic just to argue.
Wait......drmilled is a bleeding heart liberal??

Explains all the hate.
CowboyKell - your reply explains all the ignorance.

Oh yea, I learned a fin or tenner upfront goes a long long way to getting good service. I'd always tip upfront and tell her if you even think my beer is getting low, bring another one. It always pissed me off when the CW would never come around or ignore people.
