A Young Victim of Conservatism

As usual pj makes stuff up. Below is a list of companies that Bain Capital has invested in, all of whom have a subtantial number of American employees

The firm was founded in 1984 by partners from the consulting firm Bain & Company. Since inception it has invested in or acquired hundreds of companies including AMC Theatres, Aspen Education Group, Brookstone, Burger King, Burlington Coat Factory, Canada Goose, Clear Channel Communications, Domino's Pizza, DoubleClick, Dunkin' Donuts, D&M Holdings, Guitar Center, Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), Sealy, Sports Authority, Staples, Toys "R" Us, Warner Music Group and The Weather Channel.
To some of the points made by those of you that gave a serious reply.

Her parents:

James and Lisa live in Kerrington, Texas, where they serve on the board of the Hill Country Home School Association. In 2010, they were named the 2010 Texas Home School Coalition Association’s “Leaders of the Year,” according to the THSCA website. Lisa is also an ardent Christian, homeschooling, and parenting blogger, posting at Hip Homeschool Moms and The Pennington Point.

So there you have it. Her parents are big wigs in the Texas homeschooling movement and are people that provide instruction on how other parents can home school their children.

Oh, and it gets better from the same source:

Alecia's father, James, is an accountant and has been a member of the Texas Constitution Party, which describes itself as working to "restore our God-given, unalienable rights and a "republican form of government." According to a 2007 court document, he was being audited because the IRS could find no individual tax return filed after 1996.

I guess we know now why she doesn't have a social security number.

As to the point this isn't problem of conservatism yes it is. All the bureaucratic hurdles this girl is facing are because small government conservatives wanted to make it more difficult for people to receive government benefits and or keep people from voting.

The only thing this girl can do is sue her parents, and the midwife and ask the court to issue an order forcing them to appear. The midwife they used is unlicensed (you know pesky government regulations) and didn't file a birth certificate. In other words her parents and the midwife would have to admit in court that they committed crimes in order for this girl to get her birth certificate and a social security number.

Such an endeavor would probably result in a six figure legal fee and the end result would be the parents and the midwife taking the 5th meaning the girl wouldn't get her documents.

The white conservative culture is sick and destroying children's lives. When is the conservative leadership going to stand up and condemn these practices?

Boiler I have to admit I agree with you about home schooling, at least here in Florida. All of the home schooled children I know are ahead of the curve compared to the public school system here in Florida.

On a side note I can't begin to tell you how many of my friends children turned out to be a real mess because of the crowd they hung out with in public high school.

I was dead set against home schooling until I saw the final result compared to public school, granted the parent that does the teaching has to have a clue and I strongly urge the parents to get their children involved in little league or some other social activities so their children learn how to interact with other children.

Oh and home schooling kids can turn out great. The problem is there is so little oversight you end up with situations like this. And believe it or not a lot of parents want to home school their kids to keep their cult like religious beliefs or even criminal activity out of the prying eyes of school officials who might ask questions.

BTW the dad claims the reason why he doesn't have to file tax returns is because his family is a "religious institution" and thus exempt from income taxes.

So yes while home schooled kids can turn out good when something goes wrong it goes really wrong, and there is no remedy for the child victims.

The parents sound like sovereign citizens than conservatives.
Don't forget Brentagg, an international chemical distributor which Mitt help build via acquisition into largest distributor of chemicals within the US. Bain no longer owns Brentagg, and they left the company in great shape. The company has thrived during and since Bain's purchase.

Brentagg is a competitor of mine and a great company.

Malibber wants more "oversight" of parents and Boiler wants less oversight. Parents are never perfect, and some are terrible. Leaving parents to do their level best is better in the long run than involving the government. Government fucks up just about everything that it touches.

DonDiego requests evidence/source/reference that small government conservatives want (1) to make it more difficult for qualified citizens to receive government benefits and (2) to keep qualified citizens from voting.

n.b.Poor old DonDiego has employed the term "qualified citizens" as opposed to malibber2's word "people", because he is certain malibber2 does not wish unqualified non-citizens to receive benefits or vote.

DonDiego suspects the solution offered by malliber2 is, in fact, not "the only thing this girl can do". In fact, if the Government bureaucrats in charge of issuing the sought credentials and documentation could be convinced as easily as malibber2 of the young lady's plight, DonDiego suggests that there is nothing but a bit of red tape to stop them from supplying the credentials.

The mother and unlicensed midwife may, indeed, have violated the law by failing to register the birth. A bit of research suggests such behavior typically stem from a religious belief that such registration/licensing is a violation of "God's Law".
As DonDiego has previously suggested malliber2 is confusing religious fundamentalism with Conservative political ideals.

DonDiego has faith that if the legal process conjured by malliber2 were, in fact, necessary that citizens like malliber2 and others sharing his concerns could easily finance it through voluntary contributions to a "legal fund".
Why, heckfire ! DonDiego'd contribute $100 if malliber2 asked him nicely.

Hmm, . . . the "white conservative culture" ?, . . . the WHITE conservative culture" ? ?, . . . the "WHITE conservative culture" ? ? ?
DonDiego suggests malliber2 seek professional help, lest his delusions cause him future difficulties coping with life in a diverse society.
The problem with pretty much everything government touches is that it gets so damned bloated. I will say there is a whole bunch of children in this country that would be better served by government getting much more involved in their lives and the lives of their parents. Let's face it some people should not be allowed to procreate.

And I'm sure that kids who ride to school in luxury cars are generally ahead of the curve too. But luxury cars don't cause higher grades, do they?

Now go write "correlation does not equal causation" one hundred times...
