Had a busy two day trip to Caesars, arriving Thursday night, departing Saturday night because I have client meetings on Sunday (today).
the highlights: played most VP but some craps, and up until Saturday at 6PM I was up about $500 overall while playing $5 DDB and $25 craps. That's a miracle in my book because usually I lose, lose, lose at craps and VP is usually a losing session unless I hit something big like a Royal or quad aces with kicker.
First craps: did my usual routine, buy in with a $1,000 marker and played. But this time I was able to pay off my marker late Thursday night and have a $600 profit. Then played some $1 DDB VP and thanks to a few quads actually managed to break even, maintaining the $600 profit from craps.
Friday morning back to craps, and the same. Took out the $1,000 marker and at the end of the day was able to pay it off, still keeping the original $600 profit from my first session.
then on Friday played some $1 VP and then decided to make the jump to $5 DDB. No great results... had all of 3 W2gs but they were for $1,250 wins. Then hit one for $2,000 (quad 2s). But these wins only resulted in a break even result. If there was net gain it was no more than $100. Played a WSOP circuit event at CP but busted out right before the first break. I was exhausted and played careless. Frankly, I didnt care about the $230 buy in.
dinner was at the Augustus cafe. Had the prime rib for $29 and frankly it was not good. Very disappointed.
Friday night caught up on sleep after watching Avatar and Amelia in the room. I was too exhausted to follow Avatar and dozed off, but woke up about 4:30am Saturday morning to watch Amelia. Good movie but as a kid I was fascinated with Amelia and remember rushing to the post office to buy a plate block of her airmail stamps when they came out.
At 9-am Saturday hit the craps tables. Our board member Ahhcraps showed up, and we exchanged greetings. And he said-- "when I play VP I will sit next to you." He said that because he read my posts about players sitting on my right or my left hitting royals. So we played craps at the same table. Up and down, had to take out two $1,000 markers but in the end they were paid off and went back to $1 VP. I think I was on a $1 DDB machine that was set to "don't pay" because I went through $500 without even one full house. But then lightning. Holding AA I got two more aces and a 4 for $2,000. About five minutes after I was paid off, I was dealt AA again, along with KK, and held only the AA (proper strategy) and on the draw got AA3 for another $2K.
Played a few more hands at this $1 level and was dealt AKK and following proper strategy held the kings. And on the draw got AA3. That made me sick thinking that if I had held the Ace instead of the KK I might have had another 2,000 dollar win. Oh well, that "wonder" will stick with me forever and I'll never know, will I?
Okay, so now I have about $4K in my pocket so I switch to $5 DDB. But once again my machine was set to "off" and in the next $4,000 of play I didnt get even one full house. $4k was gone-- poof.
so I changed machines... I went to the $5 machines in the high limit room, played my "favorite" which was in the center. On my right was a gal with $20-thousand in front of her in straps. She was feeding her machine and playing $10 DDB for $50 a hand. And she was hitting quads after quads.
And I said to myself... she's on my RIGHT and she will hit a royal. Well, at first I thought my machine was another set to off. I went through one thousand dollars that I had in my wallet and then asked a floor person for a $2,000 marker. As the floorperson walked to get my marker... I got it. A royal for $20K. I was dealt three to the royal. A $20K win.
When the floor person returned with my cash for the marker I told him "I dont need it... look." He smiled, but to make his life simple I took the marker and then had it paid off from the proceeds of the royal.
I will be posting a photo because I called my son who was playing live poker to come take a photo. My second royal of the year and my first at $5 DDB (the other was on a 25-cent super times pay with a 3-multiply for $3K.
Wow, I thought. For once I was in the right seat.
A couple of observations: First, Caesars has tried to introduce new gaming chips with RFID implanted in the chips. I was told the system failed. The chips were first introduced in the Palace court where there is high level table games-- baccarat and such. But I was told that they did have plans for RFID chips at craps. A few years ago at the Global Gaming Expo I saw the exhibit from the maker of RFID chips and discussed with them about how RFID chips could be used on BJ and craps tables to track player betting. But this system is on hold at Caesars.
Second, I added 12-thousand tier points in two days on my TR account. But from craps, even betting with $250 or more at a time on the table, I added only about a thousand points to my tier score--- and all the rest came from VP. This makes me wonder if craps players are really getting the correct number of tier points from their play or what?? Granted betting action in VP can be a lot faster than craps, but there were times when I had $400 or more on the craps table and to only get about a thousand tier points from five or six hours of craps action at that level is disappointing.
third: this was a combination family trip and Macys gift card trip. This weekend was my niece's 21st birthday and there were about 18 women (including a half dozen other 21 year olds) there to celebrate. My wife was there of course. I had my niece throw the dice for me once (a true craps virgin) and she made two points and had one come out natural. Keep that superstition/tradition alive !! And oh, after she threw the dice, it was my turn and I also followed tradition and threw the dice twice -- first to set the point of 6 and then to throw a seven out.
Im putting a copy of this on its own thread. Picture of the royal will be added.
