On a standard 5-card draw game, you'll get a royal on average once every 43,000 hands, correct?

Actually, the odds of hitting a royal vary dramatically with the game. In JOB its about 1/40,300. In DDB its about one every 44,000. In DW its about one in 48,000. Of course you can "push" the chances of royal in any game by adjusting your play, which might mean avoiding the "best play" for the secondary play which would result in a royal.

here's an example:

In DDB you are dealt Ah Ac As Ks Js. The proper play is to hold the three aces. But if you were trying to "push" a royal you would hold AKJs.

A year ago my son was playing DDB and had two aces with three to the royal, and he went for the royal and got it. He played the hand wrong, but came out with the royal.
