Greetings!

I'm not a new member, but haven't posted on this site in many years.  Life got busy and no trips except to local casinos once in a while.

But finally have the time to get back in the saddle so decided to start reading the forums again.  What poor timing to start this year. :(

But I'm enjoying catching up and I'm also seeing some familiar names along with the new ones.

Glad to be back.

I will say I'm sorry to see that East of the Mississippi has been archived.  Though I have been to Vegas more than a few times in the past, I live on the east coast, so I would go to AC more often.

Welcome back!

Glad to see you!  Hope a Vegas trip is in your near future!  I was O2bnVega$ in the old days.  Somehow couldn't get it back with the new LVA.

Actually, I hope a Vegas trip is NOT in your near future--because such a trip would be foolhardy and dangerous; additionally, it would not be enjoyable.

But definitely, when this crisis is over and we have a vaccine, LVA will continue to be very useful to you and all of us. If what the Vegas casinos have done so far is any indication, a Vegas trip will be more expensive than ever before and the gambling will be even worse--so we'll all need coupons, deals, and good advice.

There's a distinctly nonzero chance that much of Vegas will collapse, with dozens of casinos closing, casino workers migrating to other cities where they can find work, and visitation WAY down due to people having less disposable income and being reluctant to go to places, like casinos, where there are a lot of people in close proximity.

Finally, consider that people are NOT obeying mask-wearing mandates and are sitting at slot machines, maskless, happily puffing away. The coronavirus travels very well on cigarette smoke.

I'm sure people will call me names for saying these uncomfortable truths, but I'm used to that. We should all stay the hell away from Vegas until it's safe. I, personally, do not have so much of a gambling jones that I feel I need to go there now.

Not sure if I will be going to Vegas soon; would love to but want to be there (or AC) when they are like they're supposed to be.  Dining open, bars open, shopping, etc., we'll see.

In the meantime I guess I'll have to read old trip reports and enjoy those.

Yes, I've seen videos and there weren't many people wearing masks.  Not very encouraging with the rising numbers I've been reading about.

I was in Vegas last month.  At first, most people weren't wearing masks.  After the governor issued his mask mandate, then people actually did comply and wore masks.

If you go, just be sensible - try to maintain safe distances as much as possible, wear a mask, and wash/sanitize your hands frequently.  Both my wife and I did these three steps, and we've tested negative for COVID-19 after our trip.  (We also were tested before the trip, too, to make sure we weren't positive before leaving.)

It won't be a typical Vegas experience but it's still Vegas.
