Unusual BJ stories

I am sure over the years of playing, many of you have seen unusual things. I have a couple of stories that may make you chuckle.

At an Indian casino many years ago, I was one of a group playing when the dealer dealt each of us a card, face up. The she dealt herself a card, face up, and it was a six. She then dealt all the players their second card, face up. Then she slid out of the deck her second card, which should have been placed in front of her, face down. But instead, she took the face up 6 she had, flipped it face down, and placed her second card, a ten, face up in front of her. All the players stared and paused for a few seconds, since this was one of thoise "what did I just see" moments. Since we knew she had a 16, we all signalled we woukd stay... except the player on the end, showing a a4 who asked for a hit!. Even though we knew she was as aware oif the dealer's 16 as we were. She busted, and then the dealer also puller a face card to bust. The dealer played the hand out calmly, except for a mummured "oops!" right after she flipped her cards in the wrong order. The pit boss wasn't looking our way, The TV cameras were not being watched very closely, so the four of us who won all pulled in those chips and smiled.

Another weird occurance happened elsewhere at a table near the shift change. The pit boss laid out a pair of new decks, then the dealer went out and the new dealer came in. She picked up the decks and started dealing, face down to all of us. As we got to the point where cards were being flipped over, everyone noted the order they were coming out. We saw that the deck was being dealt in the original order the cards come in. THE DECKS HAD NEVER BEEN SHUFFLED! Everybody figured out how to exactly predict the next card that would be dealt. The one hand was finished, then the pit boss had the dealer shuffle the decks up.

Has anyone else had any of these bizarre table game mix-ups?

Cool stories.

Flame me, but I like Blackjack Switch.  It is not unusual for a dealer, especially one who doesn't usually deal Switch, to forget that dealer 22 is a push, not a bust.   Had one dealer who paid 22 as a bust time and time again.  Even when a player said "push" kind of outloud the dealer still didn't get it and paid us.  Good while it lasted.

That player who tried to "correct" the dealer should have been skinned alive. We players pay for our mistakes. Why shouldn't the house?

A couple of months ago, I was playing pai gow poker, and the dealer set her hand legally but incorrectly--she didn't see that she had a straight. One player piped up, "You have a straight!" and she gave the hand a second look and corrected it. Everybody lost (and would have won or pushed) except the player who spoke up, who had a push regardless, with a high flush and a 5-high in front. Nobody reached over and strangled the m*****f*****. Pity.

I've seen, MANY times, the dealer hit four or five times and reach a hard 17--then keep on hitting. In those cases, if the dealer improved her hand, I'd call the floorman--but if she busted, I'd stay quiet. Again, if I do something stupid, I pay for it, so...

This was one of my first few trips to Vegas and we were playing BJ at Fitzgeralds (now the D).  The dealers were cute and at the time I was 23-25 ish.... so I was trying to flirt and at the same time still learning the game.  The dealers must have liked me cause on more than one occasion the dealers were hitting an extra card on a hand they shouldn't have... for instance - dealer shows a 6, flips a 9, pulls a 3, then quickly pulls another card.  Being that more times than not it would be a bust she would quickly pay the players still hanging in and grab the cards up.  Now mind you, this happened after I had lost a couple of re-buys so I think she felt sorry for me as well but as a "newbie" i thought it was the coolest thing ever.

2nd story - very recent.  I was in Lake Charles, LA for a 1 night trip.  Down to about $120 in chips and down $680 - no cash left in my pocket. Went 'all in' thinking that 'i'm going to bed broke or making a come back'.  I won the all in hand.  I started betting a little more conservative and got back to around $350.  Moved to another table.. then proceded to get around 6/10 hands that were double down hands.  All with good dealer cards showing.  I won on each.  Played for a while longer and before I know it, i'm back to even, then up...  I hop around a couple other tables and i'm up good.  I contnue to feed my buddy chips and i finally get up a couple hours later and i'm cashing in $4,000.   All on BJ!

How about the gal, e.g. me, knocking over her drink onto the felt?  Most often they just whip out the hairdryer and clean it up pretty quick, game back on in minutes.

Once I was at first base and had just been delivered a nice tall pina colada, which I managed to almost immediately knock over.  It spilled clear across the table.  They had to shut down the game and change the felt. Players had to color up and move.   Oh, the humanity!  The dealer and boss were actually really nice about it..."Oh, don't worry, happens all the time", (though I doubt that...I haven't seen it except when I did it).  My everlasting shame.

Now I order my drinks served in a short glass.  Really.

Drink spilling,Candy?Sure,I have never spilled a drink on the tables. (Probably 6 times.)

I will never order a cocktail and leave that damn straw in there like a flag pole. You may pinch off the lime from my Corona's.

Last year,That goofy Downtown Grand didn't offer anti-spill drink holders,so I kept my family jewels cool.

Memerable BJ sessions would include winning 7 hands in a row at The Flea Mont and losing 9 hands in a row at the Carson City Nugget, convinced that the Martingale sytem WILL work.

Incorrect,round eye.

Short trip.

Many moons ago, I walked up to a $2 table at Sluts O'Fun and was dealt six hard 20s in a row. I lost all six. Then I was dealt six hard 12s in a row. I won all six. Bizarre. I broke even.

I was playing downtown at Becky Binion Bunion Behnen's Horsepoo casino when I wound up with A-2-3-4-5-6 of hearts--21, and a six-card straight flush. Aside from the rarity of the hand itself, it could only have come up in a very few specific ways.

I probably don't hold the record by any means, but I once walked up to a $5 table at Sleazeball's Palace in Tahoe, bought in for $100, and proceeded to lose seventeen hands without winning a single one (there were a few pushes interspersed with the losses). I took my $15 and walked away, the message having finally sunk in.

Typical Kevin -----"at Sluts O'Fun, at Becky Binion Bunion Behnen's Horsepoo casino,Sleazeball's Palace in Tahoe",then he writes--"bought in for $100, and proceeded to lose seventeen hands without winning a single one (there were a few pushes interspersed with the losses). I took my $15 and walked away, the message having finally sunk in".------- Apparently Kevin is a slow learner who thinks nothing of bashing every casino that he can not browbeat and win in.

Ah, Dave in Seattle, misery loves company, so thank you for your spilled drink tales.  Good teamwork between drinks and the family jewels...LOL!!!

Straws...drink launchers for sure.  Combined with my compulsion to talk with my hands, death to the felt.  Aarrgh.
