Welcome to the New LVA

The only site with required advertising popups, a monthly "good deals" newsletter that should arrive by the middle of the month, and the Owner/developers don't care that the site is crap.
Are you asking for something or attempting to make a comment that might be beneficial to this group? If that's what you're trying to do, it's not coming through. You get the LVA delivered online and it's always up before the first of the month, so I don't follow that part of your discontent. You don't like ads. You don't like the new website. You don't think I care. I care. What would you like me to do?
Quote: Audrey/LVA Customer Service, June 13, 2017 at 3:53 pm: "Yes, there was a bit of a delay. The newsletters were shipped on June 7. If you haven’t received it in eight business days we can resend." What do I want you to do? Eliminate all the pop up ads. Deliver a newsletter to folks with paid subscriptions in a timely fashion. Make it an efficiently easy to use site. Kind of like the LVA site was before the upgrade.
We can't control printers and the post office, which is why a paper/mailed newsletter is a dying model for anyone who uses it. Which is also why we continue to encourage our customers to move to online access, where we've had issues posted prior to the new month 100% of the time. Do you know of a way to be completely current and have a printed and mailed product get to its destination within a few days of the first of the month? Please share. We don't, and have chosen up-to-the-second online accuracy. Eliminate the pop-ups and make the revenue back from where? Raise prices on LVA membership, which we haven't done since 1992? Do you have another solution? Please share. Create a website design that pleases you? Send in your schematics and we'll give it full consideration. You have a right to your opinion and to be displeased with our decisions and product. But you don't have a right to MF us, CONSTANTLY, in our house. You can vote in other ways. On the other hand, if you want to be truly constructive, I'm all ears.

I have been reading the current comments from chafrafo and Anthony and I have a few comments. I have been a LVA subscriber for 20+ years and became accustomed to the old forum format. My biggest disappointment is the current forum format, specifically the lack of specific topic choices. I am not a programmer, so I do not know the difficulties that may be inherent with making the changes necessary to have your current site contain more topics for discussion. That being said, I feel that this format is lacking and should/ could be improved. Is this asking too much, I don't know. But I do know that it is not as good as the old format was. I miss the interaction and information that helped keep me abreast of current Vegas. If you raised the subscription price, after 25 years of holding true, I would not have a problem with that. I used to look forward to my daily dose of Vegas information that once was available from the Advisor. Nowadays, I log on and hardly find much to peruse and find my sessions are short lived. This is not what I had grown accustomed to find from the Advisor. I know that you, Anthony, are tired of hearing the same comments about the forums- I get it. But, those who have stated their disappointment the past 3 months, I feel have a legitimate complaint. I know that after all is said, you ,Anthony, have a business to run. But we, who are your current customers should have the right to voice our opinions - as long as they are done in a civilized manner.
Yes, you have every right to voice your displeasure. If I didn't believe that, I'd take down the dissenting posts. In most instances of change, something gets sacrificed, at least short term. In this case it was the message boards. We didn't think they were as important as other aspects of the website and still feel that way, but we miscalculated regarding the extent they matter to some. I've indicated that there's a plan in place to remedy that, but we can't/won't drop everything and upset our defined schedules because a few people want it now. There are considerations and dynamics involved that are not apparent and will never be remotely understood by this vocal minority. We work hard on improving this site every single day, and we'll continue to do so.
Anthony, I appreciate your response and look forward to changes/refinements that will improve the forums.
Anthony, Are you saying the old forums will be back at some point and people should be patient or that you are working on something that may or may not satisfy people? Whichever way you go, please, pretty please keep this site politics free.
We intend to bring the forums back with better software than previous and a similar selection of topics. We'll be looking for board monitors. ETA 30-60 days.
This is great news!
