The miniscule rise follows two consecutive years of decline, but is tempered by a report by Moody's Investors Service today that says growth in the U.S. gaming market has stalled and that companies with large debt, including Caesars Ent., CityCenter Holdings, and Revel Atlantic City are "at great risk" because of "significant near-term maturities or highly leveraged capital structures." While gaming revenues demonstrated an upward trend in 2011, weakening consumer confidence and other factors have seen a slowdown in momentum, with gambling jurisdictions reporting outright declines in revenue last month.
