March 24, 2017 13:29 Big Bet Down:

Last week he bet $12,500 at 80-1 on Michigan to win the NCAA Basketball Tournament, a bet that would have returned $1 million if it won. Alas, the ride was short, as Michigan lost to Oregon in a Sweet 16 match-up last night.

March 21, 2017 22:36 Palace Station Dropping Train Theme:

Part of the big overhaul at Palace Station will be the transition of the railroad theme to a "mid-century modern design." Not sure what that means, but the train's been rolling since 1983 and a change makes sense. There's been no indication that the name will change.

March 20, 2017 09:40 Running Bad:

When D owner Derek Stevens publicly bet $11K on each of the 32 opening-round games of the college basketball championship it seemed like a pretty good play considering the PR value, and it probably was from an expected-value standpoint. But as we always try to make clear, EV and actual results can vary greatly. Stevens went 10-19-3 for a net of -$109,000. Ouch.
