Analysis

Since we opened up the comments/ratings feature at LasVegasAdvisor.com to non-LVA members, we've had several thousand comments posted across the site, for which we (and your fellow readers) are very grateful and extend our thanks to to everyone who's taken part. While we're out and about all the time trying things, both new and old, it's impossible to stay on top of every buffet/show/attraction/nightspot etc., so it's great when other people are trying things out and sharing their experiences, good or bad. We're consistently impressed by the quality of the feedback that most people post, plus a lot of you are really hilarious!

For those people who aren't so familiar with our website, try exploring and you'll probably be amazed by how much information is listed, covering all aspects of the Vegas experience, from restaurants to rental cars, poker tournaments to production shows. And, virtually everything that we list can be commented on and rated by our readers. Just choose the area you're interested in from the top yellow menu (note: some of those big sections have more elements in them than there's room to fit in the drop-down menu, like Shows & Nightlife, so hit the big button to see everything listed in that area.)

Once you've chosen the topic you're interested in -- let's say, Production Shows -- just click on that sub-section and you'll see all the current shows presented in a table. The yellow star-ratings in the right-hand column are voted by our readers. Click on the show you want to comment on -- for example, Blue Man Group -- and scroll down the page to see what other people have been saying about it. Above the reader comments, you'll see an option under the main venue information to "Add your comments." Simply click that link in any section to add your review and star-rating for whatever item you've selected. If there's an LVA review, the link to that will be just above the link for to add your comments.

In answer to those people who don't feel confident about their writing skills, or feel no one else would care what they think, we say, "Don't worry about your prose, and yes they do!" You don't need to be a Pulitzer Prize-winner -- just add a line or two about how helpful the limo driver was or what a crappy selection the buffet had. If you experience any problems while trying to add a comment, please drop us a line to [email protected] and explain what happened, and we'll look into it for you.

We monitor every single comment posted and there are some broad common-sense rules for what's allowed and what isn't (don't try pimping your own product, or attacking your rival's -- we'll simply delete your comment, over and over again if we have to). But in general, anything goes and the more people who rate something, the more valid and useful the consensus becomes. We regularly include some of the most insightful and/or amusing comments in our monthly newsletter, so you might even get to see your words in print. So don't hold back -- jump in and join the conversation!
