Analysis
As usual, you did us proud with your responses, both in terms of explaining what you particularly love about the option you voted for, or else sharing a different choice/inside tip you've discovered. That a chain won out as your overall favorite would normally bewilder us, but we agree that Cheesecake Factory has consistently good desserts. Still, Las Vegas has so many other options to try, so maybe try exploring some of the other recommendations every now and then. Here's some of your feedback:
- "I have to say that the French Market Buffet at the Orleans has the best selection and assortment of sugar-free desserts, and my companions always rave about the regular desserts as well."
- "I think Boyd-Coast casinos have the best desserts. I eat mostly sugar free desserts and Boyd-Coast has some good ones." [Ed: Yes, this group has a reputation for a good sugar-free selection, and the buffet at Wynn also used to have a lot of choices. In terms of the writer below who's looking for sugar-free options in restaurants, we don't know of anywhere to recommend, but we can suggest Mrs Williams Diabetic Delights, a sugar-free bakery that's been serving the Vegas Valley for seventeen years now, with cakes, pastries, chocolates, and hard candies, which might well be worth a shot for a take-out option.]
- "Top of the World has the best desserts in Las Vegas. Don't know how you missed that one."
- "Sinatra in The Encore. Their tiramisu is better than sex."
- "Café Belle Madeleine at Paris has wonderful pastries, free Wi-Fi, and of course Madeleine cookies ... Who could ask for anything more?!"
- "The variety of desserts at the Red Rock café are superb. You can also order to go, which makes the car trip home that much more pleasant."
- "The Riviera buffet has the best bread pudding in the world. Every time we come to Vegas we have to make a stop there just to get the bread pudding. They even have the recipe on cards to take home. I tried to make it, but it just isn't the same."
- "Anything at Rosemary's." [Ed: Don't forget there's a coupon for Rosemary's in the 2010 LVA Member Rewards Book, ditto Bally's Sterling Brunch, and several of the buffets mentioned.]
- "I voted for Luv It Frozen Custard, but have a question about the Swan's Chocolates (or is it the Chocolate Swan?) that was located in the shopping area of Mandalay Bay. Did they relocate or are they just gone? I made a point of going there every Vegas trip and was so disappointed to find them gone." [Ed: It was the Chocolate Swan at Mandalay Place, and we regret to inform you that it is indeed gone. There are plenty of other new chocolateries that you might try out as substitutes, however.]
- "The buffet at Arizona Charlie's Boulder is mighty good."
- "I understand why my choice isn't on the list with the likes of Spago etc., but here it is. I can't go to Vegas without getting a cherry-lime slushy at Sonic. Nothing is better when you're driving around in 110 degrees of heat. Wish they had one in my area, but they don't, so I get my fix while I'm here."
- "I live for the "doughnuts" dessert at Fix in Bellagio - with those wonderful dipping sauces - it's enough for a southern girl to give up her Krispy Kremes (almost)."
- "The Bananas Foster at Mon Ami Gabi! My girlfriend makes me take her there every year for her birthday just to get them!"
- "Il Mulino at Ceasars Forum Shops. The best."
- "I voted Other, and I think Bonjour Euro Bakers is my favorite. www.bonjoureurobakers.com One word – YUM." [Ed: Aha! We've seen this bakery, located in the same plaza as Sunflower Market at Rainbow and Flamingo, but have yet to sample their wares. The images on their website look mouthwatering, and we'd kill to get our hands on a decent baguette, so we could well be checking this one out soon!]
- "The only dessert I indulge in is many adult beverages!"
- "It is hard to beat the Carnival World Buffet at Rio for desserts, not only do you have a wide variety they are all very well presented and delicious. Top that off with several flavors of gelato and life is great. Also, occasionally on the Rio website they have a printout coupon offer for a lava cake that is made fresh for you. This thing is great but you'd better share because it is quite decadent."
- "I cast my vote for Bally's Sterling Sunday Brunch buffet."
- "No question: The best dessert in Las Vegas is the Grand Marnier soufflé at Fleur De Lys, while friends and family rave about the chocolate soufflé too, I find the Grand Marnier soufflé with orange cardamon ice cream to be outstanding, I almost never get dessert, but I make sure to save room for this…"
- "My wife!!!!
