Analysis

Thanks for all your feedback on this one – you sent in some interesting suggestions, which are great food for thought. Here are some of them:

  • "I would like to see a calendar built in that could be used as both a trip countdown and during a trip to take notes on the calendar to help remember when writing a trip report."
  • "For an app for a smart phone it would be nice have an update on who has the best video poker schedules and who has the best black jack in real time (as close to real time as opposed to the newsletter, which is too old.)"
  • "An app that could give you the best deal on a room at various hotels--that would be fantastic!"
  • "So, here's what I'd like to see in the iPhone/Android app you're developing: What's going on today all over town, searchable, sortable; What's going on nearby, where I am right now, searchable, AND that will work with user-inputted location data over WiFi - iPod Touch people need info too!; Easy links to flight tracking for McCarran airport; Real-time traffic info catering to out-of-towners who are a little frightened they might wreck their rental car!; I would like the Adult Vegas stuff to be in its own, separate app. If the info is valuable, people will pay for it by itself. Good luck getting it on the Apple App Store, though; A compact listing of 'Must See[' Las Vegas attractions, with hours of operation and a phone number to call. Thanks, and good luck." [Ed: Thank you!]
  • " Were Dining Specials mentioned?""An app for video poker would be huge. Coming out there in November. Can’t wait!"
  • "An application that can track the status of your sports bets. Not an app to make sports bets, but one where you can enter the bets you have placed within a casino sports book, and the bets are tracked in relation to the real-time game progress."
  • "Under 'maps,' specifically diagrams of casinos’ and other venues’ parking garages and lots, showing entrances, exits, and casino access floors."
  • "Locate nearest free (or paid) WiFi hotspot; Read LVA issues; Respond to LVA polls! All need to work on Android. They sort of work today, but is difficult to read the LVA website, including QoD. You have to zoom just right, font is still too tiny, or you have to scroll too much. In other words, the LVA website sure needs a mobile version or a dedicated LVA mobile reader app. similar to NY Times app."
  • "Jean Scott’s Video Poker Scouting Guide and a video poker strategy creator, such as VPSM."
  • "The walking directions should be shortcut-oriented."
  • "Ability to have e-coupons that are downloaded to the phone from LVA and can be shown to the establishment to redeem."
  • "I would like to see an app that would bring business leisure travelers who were in the same area, and who wanted to, to be able to meet up. (Locals and visitors have different agendas.) Also, an app by interest or event; dining, gambling, sightseeing, people-watching, sports, etc."
  • "I'd love to see someone, maybe you, make an app that links up with a last-minute, cut-rate ticket service. I can't imagine why they'd prefer to have potential customers wait in long lines in person when they could offer the same discounted tickets to be purchased at a whim from wherever the buyer has his phone. Goldstar sort of does this except in reverse, offering discount show tickets that can be purchased any time except the last few hours before the show."
  • "I don’t have a smart phone so I wouldn’t need any of these!"
  • "I'd like to see happy hour specials and any of the few remaining lounge act times/places."
  • "How about a 'good' video poker locator?"
  • "I would love a phone app that would list poker/BJ tournament info. And maybe one that would list bingo progressive-jackpot info as well."
  • "Restaurant reviews/deals."
  • "Gaming Odds. (3/2 Blackjack tables, minimums, video poker 9/6 machines, etc.)"
