No – the whole joy of Vegas is the atmosphere in the casino. Why would I want to miss out on that in my room?
56% (1562)
No – I go to my room to escape all the craziness downstairs and get some rest. You can have too much of a good thing and I don’t need to gamble 24/7.
26% (731)
Yes – Sometimes I like to take a break from all the crowds and smoke on the casino floor, but I might still enjoy being able to play my favorite game in the tranquility of my hotel room for a change.
8% (218)
Yes – why not?! Vegas is all about being decadent and doing things you wouldn’t do at home. Why not play blackjack in the bathtub, just because I can?
4% (121)
No – I’m afraid that I would blow too much money if I could gamble all the time I was in Vegas, and it might be easier to lose more money behind closed doors, with less sense of it being real cash in a real casino.

No – I don’t gamble when I come to Las Vegas.

Analysis

Thanks for the feedback, which follows:

  • "When I go back to my room I want to do 3 things: rest, relax, and sleep. I wouldn't want to listen to the party next door. People no doubt do it now but probably keep it low-key so as not to draw attention. P.S. I'm not too familiar with the details of Bill 294. For those of us who don't know what it says, would you please explain it some day in your 'Question of the Day'?" [Ed: For sure. From the emails we received, it's clear that a lot of people are unfamiliar with the terms of this bill and are under some misconceptions, so we'll definitely address it soon in a QoD. Watch that space!]

  • "I voted 'Other' because if I played casino games from my room, I doubt that I would be able to use a Player's Club Card to earn Slot Club Points or to be rated if I were to play at a table game. It also would depend on what the table games or machine games were paying."

  • "I would love to be able to watch a game in my room and be able to bet on it without running to the sports book. I'd use it for something like Cantor's in-game betting. It's one of those things where removing the distractions of the game crowd would be beneficial in my mind, especially for something like a MNF or SNF game."

  • "There is NO WAY I would have any interest in gambling while I'm in my room! The whole idea is partly to get a rush from gambling, and to be relaxed in my room is just the opposite of the emotion I want to feel when gambling."

  • "I read the bill. It applies to the entire state not just Vegas. I gamble in Reno, but that was not a voting option. I might try in-room gambling there."

  • "Even though I think it possibly 'could be fun to play blackjack while in the bathtub"' with my girlfriend, I never have and never will trust any kind of electronic 'online'-type of slot- or table-game-type gambling."

  • "If there was legal Internet poker for the state of Nevada, and there were tournaments, then a BIG YES.....I am one of many millions who want online poker & we miss it BADLY........LOL."

"For me, the most intriguing room-gambling option would be the ability to place sports (and race) bets. Rather than having to clean-up, get dressed, go down to the casino’s sports book, hunt for stats, find a teller, etc., it would be great to enjoy a cup of coffee in my room upon waking, crunch my own game stats, track the game odds on my room TV, and place bets, tapping funds from my account previously set-up at the cage. Since I play mostly table games, I would not be interested in video versions of BJ or craps, as I count cards and dice set."

  • "Would love to have full-pay VP in our room. No noise or smoke."

  • "I answered 'Other,' because my first inclination is no, but I really wasn't sure why.So, the real answer is 'maybe.' When we first came to Vegas many years ago, I would only play blackjack and craps. I would have said 'never' to slots. But things change. So, if it became a reasonable, normal thing to do, I probably would do it. How many times are you back in your room and after a while think you'd like to go back out and play 'just a little more'? But getting re-dressed, etc. is a pain. This would be an alternative. The ultimate response is, 'Never say Never.'"
