Analysis

Evidently few of you are among the 100,000 anticipating next year's return of the Electric Daisy Carnival music fest, with many more of you interested in checking out the great new dining and nightlife offerings that Cosmopolitan brought to the table this year. It's great to see support for downtown's renaissance and while we confess to being somewhat underwhelmed by what we've seen to date of the Plaza upgrade, we haven't seen the remodeled rooms, which must be among the fanciest in that 'hood these days.

The bus system has taken some significant strides this year and it's good to know it's getting some use but we're not so sure about Margaritaville, which has some of the worst gambling on the Strip (see the October LVA newsletter for the sorry story). Here's some of your email feedback:

  • "I voted for MLife rewards for one basic reason, I live in Cleveland and can only get to Vegas one to two times per year. However, I can drive to MGM Detroit any weekend of the year. So, I earn points all year round with MLife rewards. Also, they have offered me very good comps already and I've only been there a couple of times."
  • "I am most excited about the Cosmopolitan because of the balconies. There is nothing better after a day of gambling then to sit out on the balcony with my wife and a Tanqueray and tonic watching the city convert itself from day to night. I know it's pricey, but it is definitely worth it. The pizza shop is also awesome."
  • "We have been going to the Tropicana for 20 years and seeing how dumpy it was getting, and now how bright and elaborate it is walking in there today."
  • "Zipline downtown." [Ed: We kind of mentally grouped that in with all the other nightlife developments downtown, but several people specifically singled out Flightlinez.]
  • "Sad to say, there is absolutely nothing that had me excited this year or the latter part of 2010. Perhaps I am becoming too cynical? However, just because nothing new has excited me doesn't mean I don't still enjoy the Vegas experience; it simply means it takes more to excite me now than in the past!"
  • "LOVE the $20.11 lunch at Milos at Cosmopolitan."
