| I was a fan of the old Lady Luck but I’m excited to see it reopen as the Downtown Grand. Change is good! |
|
| I don’t care one way or the other. Didn’t go there before, probably still won’t. |
|
| The Lady Luck was before my time, so I don’t miss it; I’m always interested to see something new, though, so I’ll check out the Downtown Grand. |
|
| The Lady Luck was about my favorite casino and I wish it would reopen exactly as it was before. |
|
| I NEVER go downtown and don’t intend to start now. It’s too noisy and I don’t fee safe down there, however much they "upgrade." |
|
| The Lady Luck was a seedy old dive and I don’t think it’s even worth remodeling. Just knock it down already. |

Analysis
Given how inquiries about the fate of the Lady Luck have been a QoD FAQ ever since the old girl closed, we were surprised that the winning vote went to change, but pleasantly surprised. Here's some of your specific feedback:
- "The reemergence of downtown is one of the best things to happen in Vegas since I started going in the 1970s. I hope the developers of 'the new Lady Luck' (by any other name) look around at the tone of the new downtown and realize that they need to do something different. Not just another nice ho-hum casino, even if it's upscale - something arty, with some cutting-edge music, unusual exhibits, a retro restaurant, funky shops, etc. will be required to keep the attention of those who now choose downtown over the Strip."
- "Part of the 'charm' of the Lady Luck was that a 'little bettor' could feel comfortable and welcomed there. Unique things were offered as player rewards, e.g., free phone call, etc. With cell phones, that's no longer important, but it was the uniqueness of the rewards that was appealing. Also, it was the first place I was offered complimentary tickets to their show while playing $5 blackjack...without having to ask!"
- "Personally, I think anything in that spot is better than the building sitting there in its current condition. I hope that the new place has a 'locals' feel. I miss joints like The Klondike. I loved the fact that I could go there and play ten-cent roulette, $1 minimum per spin, and $1/hand blackjack. The food was decent and the drinks were pretty quick to come, too. It was a place that even I could feel like a high-roller for awhile..."
- "I chose number 5, 'Check out the Downtown Grand', because I look forward to seeing something new every time I go to Vegas. I am also interested in seeing what their players club has to offer and if they will jump on board in the LVA Member Rewards book. Yes, it's said to see a bit of the old Vegas go, such as the Sahara, but this is another reason to spend more time downtown, where the casino workers are friendlier and I can get more bang for the buck(s)."
