Analysis
This was an interesting one, and we received all kinds of suggestions of other major landmarks in the Las Vegas calendar that you try to hit. This poll really gives a great overview of just how diverse Las Vegas is, in terms of who it caters to, from porn stars to poker players to pizza makers, there truly is something for everyone. Here's some of your feedback:
- I would have picked "Christmas" if it had been listed as an option. I love to visit Las Vegas every year sometime in December; whenever I can take a few days off from work. My Mom and I love to see the Conservatory at Bellagio, as well as the decorations at Palazzo and even the Wynn. The town is less crowded, which is an added plus, and we can do a bit of shopping in some of the malls in town. The strip has the best Christmas lights of all!!
- Can’t believe WSOP wasn’t a choice but I’m there every year for it. [Ed: Yep, that was an unintentional omission that a lot of people wrote in about.]
- I would like to be there for March Madness, but I am a tax accountant and work 12 hour days, six days a week in March. Maybe once I retire!
- Supercross.
- I always try my best to attend the CC&CC Convention, which this year will be held June 20 to June 23 at South Point Hotel and Casino. It features the world's largest casino collectibles display, both for show and for purchase.
- Las Vegas Bike fest, we attended several years ago (won a trip) and would love to go back.
- Restaurant Week!
- We also come out for the marathon in early December, great time and the rodeo is in town, so sort of a two'fer.
- The event I always visit Vegas is the first weekend of college football (late August/early September).
- One of these years, hopefully this year, I'll be attending the Pizza Expo!
- Barrett Jackson Classic Car Auction
- How could you possibly forget the Specialty Equipment Market Association show (SEMA) show in your list of events? It's one of the biggest in town, along with CES, every year! We always attend the SEMA show, in addition to our other visits throuhgh the year and wouldn't miss it for the world - along with about 135,000 other folks!
- BARGE. It's always a fun time with good people, poker and, other activities. http://www.barge.org/
- My favorite event is The Las Vegas Marathon and Half Marathon the first Sunday in December. I ran it the past three years and will continue as long as I’m physically able. Running on the strip when it’s completely closed to traffic is an amazing experience.
- We come to Las Vegas to attend AMVIV (A MINI vacation in Las Vegas) put on by the Sin City MINI Club every year. 400-600 MINI Coopers (and their owners) from all over the country come to Las Vegas for driving, socializing, shopping and customizing. This is year is the ninth annual event and will be held June 14-17 at the Palace Station. More information at www.amviv.com
- Big Smoke!
- Any of the three national/international billiard tournaments held: BCA, VNEA, & APA.
- Fantasy Football draft at the beginning of the NFL season.
- I would like to make it for the archery show at the Convention Center.
- Kentucky Derby Weekend!
- Labor Day weekend is the best. Great way to end the summer. Golfing, laying by the pol and the great restaurants. A great way to send the summer out.
- We always come to the Military and Shot Shows in early January and have fun when we're not working!
- My birthday.
- We come every year for Bikefest (1st of Oct.), Viva Las Vegas "Rockabilly Weekend" (Easter weekend), and any other time that we need to.
- We try to go to Las Vegas during SEMA week. Husband likes SEMA and it gives him something to do since he doesn't gamble (go figure). We also like to be there either Thanksgiving or Christmas each year. How great it is to escape one of two obligatory chaotic cooking/family events of the season.
- Wedding anniversary - not on your calendar, of course - but on ours.
- We visited last year for WSOP and will again this year…and every year until we die. It’s better than Christmas, if you are a poker player.
