Analysis
As one reader wrote in reponse, "I don’t think anything other than the Downtown Grand will get built," which seemed to sum up a lot of people's take on this somewhat gloomy but realistic survey. It's kind of ironic that this would be the horse most would bet their money on, since the renovation and reopening of the former Lady Luck has been on the cards for what seems like an eternity, with any palpable progress being a very recent phenomenon.
Still, with the unquestionable rejuvenation of the downtown area now in full force, and if anything gathering momentum, the debut of the Downtown Grand does seem to be a credible date for your diary: Construction work commenced last November and is scheduled for completion later this year.
As to the contenders for least likely to see the light of day, with CityCenter still locked in mortal combat with Harmon's contractors, the Monorail no nearer to financial sustainability, Boyd's recent statement that the company has no intention of doing anything with or to Echelon for the foreseeable future, Sam Nazarian having less than three weeks to scare up $115 million from overseas sources if he's to avoid losing the $300 million that’s currently in escrow for Sahara's renovation, and the "X" Train still no further off the drawing board than it's ever been, we have to agree with everyone who voted for any of the options on the list, aside from the Downtown Grand, which we're pretty confident will actually materialize -- finally.
