I’d like to be able to practice my skills online with interactive tutorial games for video poker, blackjack, and other games, but only to hone my own skills, not to compete with others or win money.
23% (982)
I would certainly be interested in checking out any interactive online games or sites that LVA deemed worthy of hosting or promoting.
20% (862)
I currently play, or would be interested in playing in virtual casinos online for fun (bragging rights and/or game-related tokens) but never for real money.
17% (702)
I have no interest in playing any games online.
16% (694)
currently or have in the past played casino games online for money, and would in the future, if I trusted the site and its legality.
8% (333)
I would be prepared to wager small amounts (1-cent to $2 dollar level, for example) to play games online, but I don’t want the risk of getting carried away and losing lots of money.
7% (304)
I don’t want to waste my time playing for points and prizes; I like to gamble and if I’m taking time to play a game, then I want to bet real money for worthwhile stakes, whether it’s in a real casino or online.
4% (166)
I’m only interested in playing non-skill games, as a fun form of diversion, but I don’t want to play actual casino games or worry about strategy.
3% (134)
For me, any Internet gaming site, whether free or for money, needs to have a big social dimension to attract me -- I want to be able to hang out and interact with fellow players online.

Analysis

Many thanks for the interesting and wide-ranging feedback you sent in with regard to this one. Here are some of your thoughts:

  • Great idea, it's about time. This could be a place to come for all the new games for both the player and the manufacturer of the games to test and get opinions first hand, through LVA. i play on at least 4 separate game sites a day: My Las Vegas; Caesars; Double Down; Wu. Let's get your site up and interactive!"

  • "I hope LVA staff doesn't overextend itself by adding online gaming. The website and coupon book as is must be daunting - e.g., the time to research QoD alone. I'd hate to see an added feature that ultimately detracts from the quality of what we already have. My two cents." [Ed: A few points to make here: Yes, maintaining the content on our site, including Today's News and the daily QoD, not to mention up-to-date listings for buffets, shows, restaurants, etc., is indeed a huge task, and our resources are currently stretched to the max. In order to keep providing and expanding our information services, the site must be adequately monetized in order to pay for the research and IT resources entailed. If online gaming brings lots of eyeballs, then that makes us more attractive to third-party advertisers; if the games themselves generate revenue, then that also would help to make it all self-sustaining. We have no intention of sacrificing ongoing quality, but as a business, we have to make sure we are sustainable, especially when we offer so much for free.]

  • "I have played poker online before and look forward to the day when I can play online again. I feel like I at least have a chance to win if I play better than other players. However, I have absolutely no interest in playing games with no skill element at all, or even games with a skill element but no chance for long term winning. I do not understand the idea of playing a negative expectation game online where there is no chance to win long term and the play is basically accelerated, with none of the perks that come with live gaming in Las Vegas. Sure it's cheaper (no airfare, hotel, etc.), but not much of a vacation. ."

  • "My online gaming consists of playing myVegas on Facebook. It’s a free game that pays real rewards, I cashed a few on my last trip to Vegas in February."

  • "I like to read the QoD and other areas of LasVegasAdvisor.com while I'm on a break at work. But my employer specifically prohibits employees from visiting online gambling sites, so I could get into real trouble if the site becomes a gambling site!" [Ed: It's okay, we won't be hosting real-money gambling directly on the LVA site; we'll likely have free games for fun, new games to test, exclusive LVA tournaments to play in, and free tutorial options to practice your skills on, for example, but any for-money games would most likely be hosted and administered on their own sites, to which we would simply act as a portal.]

  • "A major problem with online gaming is the ability of the gaming site's server to handle the volume of players. As a site becomes more popular, it needs to upgrade to handle the increase in traffic. Any disconnects and/or slow connections, besides being irritating, also cause players to doubt the site's legitimacy. These problems are independent of the player's server connection (dial-up, broadband, wifi, etc). I would hope that any site that LVA recommends would have been thoroughly (and continually) investigated and would not have this problem."[Ed: we are very choosy about who we affiliate with or endorse, since of course our own reputation is tied up with their performance, and as a consumer-advocate site, we only want to work with reputable third parties who bring something of benefit to the table for our readers and members. This goes for functionality as well as integrity, and we will of course vet any site thoroughly before we recommend or link to them.]

"I'm game to see what it's all about - bring it!"
