Analysis

This was an interesting result, especially as our primary Twitter, @LVATweet, is approaching 13,000 followers, but re recognize that different users have very different profiles in terms of what they're interested in and how they wish to access it, so being able to cater to that spectrum was what this poll was all about. Thanks to all of you who shared; here's some specific feedback:

• "I use Twitter to stay up-to-date on everything to do with Vegas. I follow everything from cab drivers to casinos. [Ed: Ditto! Cabbies can be a great -- and often hilarious -- source of info.] I use Facebook for family and friends. I wish when LVA tweets the QOD, you would actually put the question (or as many characters as will fit) in the tweet itself. I think that would get me (and more people) to open the link." [Ed: Just assume that it's a priceless gift every single day, no matter what it's about LOL. The fact is, those Tweets are automated and it would be a royal pain to have to post 'em manually, plus in only 140 characters you still might not know what the nub was.]
  
  
• "I checked Facebook but use it only occasionally to see what a couple of family members are up to. I'm not really into social networking so I can hardly be called a FB user. Just don't trust it and don't see the value."
  
  
• "I use Twitter much more than the others. I hate Facebook, because it is primarily invasive. The navigation, the 'features' and the different views are too complicated for a service that offers such tiny benefits compared to alternatives. I only use Facebook when absolutely necessary, e.g. : obtaining a coupon or entering a sweepstakes. Even then, I often choose to not "like" the page, because the coupon or whatever does not compensate me for the fear of having my privacy invaded. My security feels more vulnerable on Facebook than even on a sketchy adult site. Horrible web site."

• " I might be in the minority, but I can't stand Social Media in general. I dislike having many logins/contests/discounts tied into FaceBook or Twitter. It's like I'm almost not a valid consumer unless I have an account on one of these platforms. I don't want to share my whims, likes, etc with the world or have secret circles of friends. That said, I do like seeing reviews that I think are factual and honest. I do look at Trip Advisor and occasionally Yelp. I don't always trust those sites though. I love Las Vegas Advisor. Now there's a great site, please don't go all FaceBook on me : ) [Ed: Thanks, and between you and me, the Web-Content Manager at LVA hates FB, too, so you should be safe! I love Twitter though, in the right context.]
