Analysis

Well, Caesars Entertainment will be happy if they see these poll results, as the High Roller has not been getting the kind of ridership they might've been hoping for (witness the recent "summer discount" and locals specials introduced), and the VooDoo Zip Line could use a helping hand in this heat.

Those of you who like The Quad, or would like to explore it and the reincarnated O'Sheas, enjoy while you can, as The Quad's days are already numbered... (see Today's News 1/1/14 and no, it's not a "July Fools prank, crazy as it may sound).

  • "Guy Fieri's restaurant is yummy, been there twice. Tilted Kilt for lunch yesterday, flank steak salad was to die for. Chayo's tacos are delicious! The LINQ has some great shopping too!" [Ed: Yes, everything at The LINQ is doing well, with the current exception of the Brooklyn Bowl and the High Roller -- the latter due to pricing and questionable views, in our humble opinion (it's a stunning addition to the skyline and has resulted in a long-overdue and welcome upgrade to the access road to our offices; we're just glad we didn't pay for it!). The Brooklyn Bowl has suffered from an inconsistent lineup of artists (and drink prices) and parking problems and needs to pull in locals if it's going to make it, we reckon, but it's a great venue so we hope they get it right before it's too late.]

  • Waiting for SLS to open!"

  • "None of the above - not one of them interests me. I go to Vegas to gamble, not shop, not eat, not sightsee and definitely not to risk my life and limbs on crazy high rides etc."

  • "Rode on Slotzilla last time I was in town, the first week in May. It was awesome. Can't wait to go again when they have the upper level open."

  • "I skipped LV in 2013 but will be there in July 2014 and will be staying at the Mirage, as we have been since 2009. I am also planning to attend the SEMA Show in Dec. (?) of this year. None of the above excited me much, so other than gamble, attend the Freedomfest, and perhaps squeeze off 100 rounds of full auto at the gun store, we will mainly look forward to dining at some of the finest restaurants in the USA." [Ed: Fair enough -- whatever floats your boat, and you're not wrong on the dining, that's for sure.]

  • "My hubby & I waited and waited for the Downtown Grand to open as we thought it would be a great place to stay and we always stay downtown, but we were so disappointed with the video poker that we didn't even pick up a players card. They could be THE place downtown if they had anything playable." [Ed: We hear you loud and clear.]

  • "We stayed at The Quad in January, when it had not yet been fully remodeled. I thought the improvements to the casino were substantial (I had previously stayed when it was the IP). The rooms were not yet remodeled and were still drab. I think they are going in the right direction, and I will try again. Also, I love the pedestrian area between the Quad and the Flamingo -- a very nice way to go between the two. The Hershey's attraction was not yet open when we were there, but it's on my to-do list for the next trip! All things chocolate are on my list!" [Ed: LOL on the chocoholism; enjoy The Quad while you can (see above).]

  • "I received a free play coupon from The Cromwell, not tied to a hotel stay. So, I will use that and check out the property. Having once long ago stayed at the Barbary Coast hotel, unless they significantly expanded the size of the bathrooms during the remodel it is unlikely I will be tempted to stay there." [Ed: We're pretty sure you'll find the joint -- and the johns -- pleasantly unrecognizable.]

  • "I voted for the Smith Center because I did not really see anything on the list that was an outstanding upgrade and the Center is definitely that."

  • "I'm interested in O'Shea's, but not the Quad. I wanna check out the LINQ, but not specifically the High Roller or Brooklyn Bowl. Yes to the Cromwell but no to Drai's or Giada's. Thanks for mentioning Wet 'n' Wild. I never knew there was one in Vegas until now. But its a no, only because it's too damn far. (I love Google maps.)" [Ed: Depending on where you tend to stay, it shouldn't be more than a 20-30-minute drive, especially if you use the freeway(s). Just sayin']

  • "One of the things I appreciate about Las Vegas is that its changing nature adds to its excitement. If you can't find something to do in Vegas, you're dead or near dead. However, one current change leaves me cold: Over the last 15 years or so, I've enjoyed 2-3 nights downtown as part of my stay. The Boyd properties are a real draw. However, since Slotzilla came into being, the look and feel of the Fremont Street Experience changed. Gone are the open views at each end of the Experience. No longer can I look in either direction and see the Plaza or the neon art directing me to Fremont Street East. That hideous monstrosity on both ends of the Experience is at the top of my list of why Gold Coast is now my go-to hotel/casino, and doesn't make my list of things to try while in Las Vegas."

  • "We have reservations at Giada's July 3rd. I'll try to post my review later in July." [Ed: You're probably eating as we write, with only a Rockstar and some Milky Way Bites to sustain us. Envious? Nah, of course not ;-) Look forward to reading your review in the fullness of time.]
