2% (179)

2% (175)
James Grosjean’s "Beyond Numbers" blog is a great addition to your site; I just wish he’d post more often/regularly.
2% (170)
I would use your dining/hotel pages more if there were more LVA reviews and user comments and ratings; as it is, I prefer to use Yelp, EaterVegas, TripAdvisor, etc. for my restaurant/hotel information.

I barely use lasvegasadvisor.com for anything; come to think of it, what am I even doing here. XXXXXXX.com site is much better than your’s for just about everything.

I really like your Green Guide, but I wish you were still Tweeting at @GreenVegas

I mainly come to Vegas for the nightlife, and there are other sites that cover the club scene way better, so why do you even bother?

Analysis

Our thanks for the HUGE response to this survey, which is really instructive from our point of view. Below are some of your additional comments:

  • "LOVE Today's News and never miss it!"

  • "We come to Vegas 1 to 3 times a year (live in Indiana) and use LVA to plan out ALL our trips. It's a MAJOR help!!!!!!" [Ed: Glad to be of service!]

  • "Would like to see hotel property maps added to the website. They are sometimes difficult to find on the hotel websites." [Ed: Request duly noted. We are actually in the process of building out our hotel pages as we write, so this is a timely request that we we will attempt to accommodate, although these maps tend to be proprietary. We should be able to add links where maps exist, however.]

  • "I'm glad you ran this poll - I had no idea there were so many interesting and useful features on LVA!" [Ed: So are we, for this very reason, among others. We had a feeling that continued to be the case among some visitors, even the regulars, and yours was just one among many similar responses.]

  • "It seems like I didn’t pick many categories, but I determined there are a lot of pages I visit but not consistently, while the poll asked which I visited most often. I have some suggestions, too: How bout a column of ‘This month in Vegas history’? You could cover topics that were big news back in the day and include old pictures and follow ups as to anything current that stemmed from the original story. Along the same lines have you considered a ’Where are they now’ segment of performers that got their start in Vegas and eventually made it big, or not. You could even include updates and or interviews with property owners, CEO’s or big gamblers and let us know if they are still in the business, dead or alive, or down and out." [Ed: These are all topics that we cover within the Question of the Day column.]

  • "As a non-local, I love to read about new development in the city, rumors about new casinos/hotels, etc. I like to see pictures of construction. I used to check vegastodayandtomorrow.com, but they stopped updating it. Now I read vegaschatter.com daily. If you had a blog similar to theirs, I'd check your site more often. Right now, I visit when I remember to, and it's only to read the QoD and News feed." [Ed: Watch this space! We actually have plans for something along these very lines, but we have a few other projects to tie up before we take on something new.]

  • "I checked that I read the forums regularly - specifically only the members forums. The free side is full of %^$#!! and not worth reading. On the paid side, I particularly enjoy Westie's restaurant review compilations. You guys should put him on the payroll!" [Ed: We love Westie, too (and Mrs Westie!) and we are similarly grateful for all the info he feeds out way. He's been on fire of late, with useful tidbits and updates and fear not, his efforts do not go unrewarded).]

  • "I know, I know....You sneer at slot players. But I find playing slots relaxing, unlike blackjack, which takes some work (and I do play video poker pretty well and know how to read pay scheds/strategy cards). So I'd like to see more info about specific casinos you'd recommend for plain old slot players, at all denoms." [Ed: Au contraire: We don't "sneer" at slot players, we simply make the point that if you're trying to do more than just have some fun, and you want a shot at regularly breaking even or better, than slots are not your friend. But if you bring a bankroll you can afford purely for entertainment purposes, then whatever floats your boat, and slots can be a lot of fun -- just don't expect to win (although we hope you get lucky.)]

  • "I would like to see a "Senior Specials" section on the LVA. Many casinos offer specials and deals and it would be great to have them on your website. Maybe like the Top 10 format." [Ed: For this, we would refer you to Jean Scott's "Frugal Vegas" blog, which is under the LVA umbrella. She and her husband are seniors, and locals, and she regularly posts about deals and specials specifically for seniors. Find the link to her's, and our other blogs, on the home page.]

  • "I faithfully read your website daily, always starting with the Question of the Day and then News of the Day. I also regularly read the forums."

  • "I would like to have information on race and sports books. I would like to know all about the comps at each of them in Las Vegas. How much do you need to wager for comps? Plus other general information." [Ed: Building out our gambling-information section is another of our top priorities, so stay tuned!]
